I never understood who needs these stupid protection cases. It's such a beautiful device, why cover it in ugly shells? You're only going to use it for 2 years anyway, then you throw it away and get the new model for free.

Well you will find out why when you get a huge crack like ME. I got the crack in August after I bought the iPhone in July :(

so...no interfacing on back side?

that option would be ruled out by these case, right?

I'm still hoping for something more exciting to happen there on the backside than just being glass....

so you're planning to go phoneless for the next 18 days? Plus, when Apple announces it at WWDC we still have to wait til the 21st (my guess, because of the whole AT&T 3G upgrade article posted previously), so technically it's 33 days

I am getting a good price, if i sell my phone after 18 days the price will fall. I did the same last year when i sold my 3G, and waited 4 weeks for a 3GS.

I live in Europe and would love to snap up a 4G iPhone quickly rather than waiting for my carrier to get one, design posters and a marketing campaign, etc. (for the last two iPhones announced in June, my carrier didn't sell them until October).

Any idea the quickest and most efficient way I could get hold of one, short of asking someone to go over to the US to pick one up for me?

no, sir... exactly this, makes me believe that we WILL interact with the iPhone from the backside [no pun intended] ...

I mean, don't you think the back of those cases are an itsy bit too thin/transparent?

Yeah, you find someone in the states that you can "trust". Maybe someone that has 1300 positive feed back with no negs on E-bay that has a history shipping to Europe. You may also want that person to have around 70 positive feed backs with no negs and some deals over 1,000+ dollars on a paintball forum.

I don't know, if I were looking for an iPad for a lower price or 4g iPhone and it wasn't dropping in my country for a while, I'd look for someone fitting the bill above. ;)

... I'm looking forward to a titanium based unibody which I believe would allow the wireless signals to pass through. Though titanium is a somewhat more expensive.

You must have never owned a Titanium PowerBook G4. It had absolutely the worst wireless reception of any Apple laptop

Ive seen well looked after original iPhones go for £200 on eBay, and they're 3 years old! So protecting the screen and back can help preserve the value significantly. But I do agree that there's nothing like having the device in your hand in its original naked form. On the other hand, I do have a bit of a carbon fibre fetish.

I live in Belgium. Mobistar and Proximus here both sell the iPhone, unlocked and at full price (~600 EUR). I can't speak for Proximus, but Mobistar took till October 08 to properly bring the 3G to market, because they restricted supply to keep it 'interesting', plus they spent time organising idiotic news stunts like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/loneblackrider/sets/72157606098594351/ (the stunt happened in July, but the phone wasn't made available for most customers until Oct).

Let's just say that unlike Apple, they're not customer-centric.
