Third party case manufacturers have already started creating case designs for the unreleased 4th generation iPhone. The so-called iPhone HD was originally leaked by Gizmodo in April with another major leak this month.

HardMac published this image from one of their contacts in China. The cases share the same rounded corner design of the leaked iPhone as well as additional spacing for a camera flash. A quick search shows some other early cases for the iPhone HD.

While these cases don't provide any additional confirmation beyond the original leaks, it does show that some companies are confident enough about the 4th generation iPhone design to begin producing cases for the product.

Interesting...

I bet they would be pissed if the iPhone was actually a different exterior than the others found. Most likely not though.

Please, not that design... it was too clunky :( I'm complaining this much because I'm about to buy a new iphone and thought the latest to be worth saving for....

Haha, that's what everyone said when the 3G came out too!

I like it. Seams are odd though, but not terrible. I still think there is a surprise or two in store for us.

Is it actually confirmed that the back is glass? I've been thinking about going commando with my next iPhone, but wonder how well it will hold up. Funny thing is that I dropped my first gen iPhone a couple times, then used cases for the next two revisions and never dropped them. I'm looking forward to a titanium based unibody which I believe would allow the wireless signals to pass through. Though titanium is a somewhat more expensive.

My Incase makes them look like something out of a Christmas cracker.

As long as your pockets are lined and your pubes are soft it should be fine.

Well, hopefully with the 'ceramic backing' there really won't be any need for a case (to prevent scratches). Still, a few more months till real good cases come out. First batch accessories are always..... meh.

18 days left yupiiii, selling my 3GS today:)

so you're planning to go phoneless for the next 18 days? Plus, when Apple announces it at WWDC we still have to wait til the 21st (my guess, because of the whole AT&T 3G upgrade article posted previously), so technically it's 33 days

Didn't this happen last year?

I seem to recall that some case makers jumped the gun last year too, releasing their products before the 3GS was released. Only to find out that the supposedly redesigned 2009 iPhone was exactly the same shape as the 2008 3G.

If I were Steve Jobs, I wouldn't give anyone the final case design until I'd done the WWDC keynote. With the real one. Spy photos and the occasional lost prototype are nearly inevitable, so I'd only let rough mashups out of the lab.

Then again, I'm paranoid.

Presumably then a lot of accessories such as the very expensive Tomtom in-car mount will not fit the new iPhone? I guess a lot of people are going to be pretty annoyed about that one.
