Except there isn't an option in iOS settings to allow side loading of apps, only Android has that. This is an iOS bug/security problem.

I believe you can sideload self signed apps with xcode. I believe the catch is that you have to compile them yourself, so People only really sideload open source stuff

maybe the FBI should just hire some chinese hackers

They have come up with the past few jailbreaks ;)

Isn't this the story for almost every single piece of Apple-related malware? It reminds me of human viruses: if you want to stay healthy, avoid making contact with people who are sick.

I wish we were all aware in the digital era. In the real world... we know how friends are sick when they are 'under the weather', but stick them in front of a PC, and they go "I dunno"

No, the FBI wants to track down those who want to kill you and destroy Western Civilization.
but that's not what they said... They feel they need access to all devices in order to do this. The problem for them is that they will never get this because there are a gazillion apps who also offer up encryption that the US doesn't have jurisdiction over. Secondly, the courts have already ruled people can install whatever they want to on their Apple devices once they've paid for them. Oops!

You a Clinton jock?

Clinton is infinite better than Donald Durmpf... At least Clinton say some intellgent things where Durmpf only says racist and dump things.

All Drumpf says are: I am rich, I knkw howntl build a war, US is screwd by all China etc. If Drumpf is elected as President, therr wipl be 4 fun years to see how Drumpf ruins USA

this tool is for installing pirated apps for asian users on nonjailbroken devices, I would not call it malware or trojan (although it has this abilities). Every intelligent asian user know that when using this masterpiece, no useful apple id (no card or zero card, useless mail accounts etc.) will be used by user.
-------
These apps successfully bypassed Apple’s code review at least seven times (including the first time each was uploaded and then four rounds of code updates, which require an additional review by Apple for each instance) using a method similar to that used by ZergHelper, where the app tailors its behavior based on the physical geographic region in which it’s being executed.
-----
When installed on a user’s iOS device that is located in mainland China, it also provides access to a third-party App Store controlled by the attackers that could be used to install additional iOS apps or games to either jailbroken or non-jailbroken devices. Most of the iOS apps they provided appear to be pirated versions. Interestingly, according to ITJuzi, a Chinese business profiling website, Aisi Helper was initially released in January 2014 and at the time did not exhibit any malicious functionality. As of December 2014, it had accumulated over 15 million users and had over 6.6 million monthly active users. The malicious functionality doesn’t appear to have been added until 2015.

I use iTunes only, so I am fine anyway.
I do not trust those third party sources, as I don't trust those when using Android.

With Trojan malware like this it's more like... don't go sleeping around with anything you think looks nice, without checking their medical report first.

Obviously, the FBI needs to get hold of whoever it was that created this and hire them to decrypt the iPhone they have from the San Bernadino shooter. They don't need Apple. They need a hacker.
