Acquisition Won't Connect Anymore

Acquisition won't connect

I feel like it's pretty pointless to post this, considering no one has figured out how to fix this, but I too am experiencing connection problems; it just won't connect, and none of the hosts show up. I've been using this program for 5+ years and have paid for it, and I've been e-mailing Dave frantically for the past week and a half to no avail and am beginning to grow impatient. UGHHHH!!
 
Downloaded Acqlite and It WORKS!!

Same story as everyone else. I used Acquisition for about 5 years, paid and everything, loved it. I got a new computer w/ 10.6.4, downloaded the new version 2.2 and no connection. turned off my firewall, deleted all pfiles and folders reinstalled, rebooted no connection. Read the forum thread, gave up and went searching for other clients. I tried frostwire, I did not like it.

I tried acqlite and IT WORKS and it seems fine.

That is my solution. I hope Dave gets Acquisition fixed and working for out of the box and fresh installs of OSX. I really appreciate his efforts to produce a the software and I enjoyed using it for many years. But if it does not work, you just have to accept and move on. Thanks Dave for the good years and here is to finding something that works for me.... Acqlite

Acquisition

doesnt anyone else think that it must have something to do with the limited code they used from limewire and since that recently got shut down maybe this guy has to rewrite the code in order for it to work again...i could be totally wrong but the coincidence is to blatant to deny. It is a major major pain in the butt, I downloaded 2.2 and still the same thing. My acquisition was actually working awhile after other people's acq got shut down but Im in the same boat as you are, to be collecting 30 to 40 dollars a head for a program that isnt working after i raved about it to everyone is ridiculous
 
Acquistion

My last Acquisition download was Oct 24, Limewire shut down Oct 27, no luck connecting since. :( Very frustrating. Does anyone know any other decent sites for Music or Movies? I've tried XTorrent but nowhere near as good. Also tried Muse, Vuze & Transmission.
 
I just downloaded the latest version and am back up and running :) Thanks to the developer for making this happen.
 
New Version Available

A new build of Acquisition is available (2.2 v 223) that fixes the problem.
 
How do you get the new build without re-puchasing it again?

I bought the lifetime upgrade option, but can not get the current build... When I go to "Update" in Acquisition it just tells me that #2 is the latest version... I still have an earlier build.


Do I have to re-buy it??

Like Marker227 I also purchased the "Lifetime Guarantee" I've emailed the developer so we will see ...................
 
There seems to be no way to access the file without hitting the purchase page, even if you own the permanent key. I just had my key re-emailed to me, but I can't get to the file without the purchase page....
 
java version 1.6._22 for mac and Acquisition

I have aquisitionx pro 2.2. I have been a life time member for years.

It recently quit and has not restarted due to a java run time error that states that I have a serious issue will have to re-install mac os x. I have done this. I need to know if there is a solution to this problem. I have been down for weeks. Have read many forums and solutions and blogs. Is there a solution or not? Are we in waiting mode?? Would really appreciate if anyone out there knows something. I'm frustrated galore!! I've even sent questions to David Wantanabe about this issue. No feed back yet. I would appreciate step by steb instructions on how to fix this problem so that I may enjoy the product that I purchased. Acquisition says no refunds, well someone is making a crap load of money without getting the product to work. HELP!!

I have a paid membership as well. This is not an OS issue, I have 3 macs running from OS X.4 to X.5, all have a paid version of Acquisition, none of them will connect. I tried the site's FAQ/help suggestions, as well as several found online. Some say they can connect, others cannot.

IF the new version of Acquisition is OS X.6 compatible only, then the developer NEEDS to post it on the site. Otherwise, as a paying client, I expect more in the way of support.

There isn't even a 'support' link on the software's site.

I'm certainly not paying for a new version if it cannot connect...

A SOLUTION TO THE VERSION PROBLEM!
I HAD the same problem, then I found a way around.
I asked for my activation code to be reissued, and in the e-mail was a link to the CURRENT version which (oddly) isn't posted anywhere on the Acquisition site. So here it is:

i need help please

I have a mac version 10.4.11, and since purchasing that use the acquisition, and two days ago he left here to connect, get the red symbol to say that you are connecting, and the past five minutes program falls.
I read your tips, I did some of your suggestions but still the same, you could help me, please!? this was the best program I've worked with so far ...

Link is dead, can anyone else post a link? Im currently running version 2.1 (build 210) and its telling me that it is the most current version. So frustrating that there is 0 support from the developer. I cant connect and I feel like im in limbo......
 
acqlite its the best option

im sorry for the people the had to pay for an upgrade or simply bc acquistion was indeed the best and yet simply, however, reading and researching about why my acquistion wouldn't connect, i came across with acqlite and its the exact same as acquistion, its free and fast. works fine for an acquistion clone
 
I can not believe all the trouble everyone is having with this program. I can not run it either. It will not connect. I tried forwarding the ports to my airport extreme and my modem. Neither were successful. No firewall on my computer. Here are some imaged from what happens when I open the app.

First of all, there was never an area to insert my activation code. I thought that was very weird. Not sure why that is happening.

I open acquisition and it asks me if I want to install the gnutella client stuff and I accept.

It then briefly flashes a progress screen and I hear a faint bleep and it disappears. Then it is just the acquisition screen with no connection..

Anyone with some help would be appreciated!

BTW, I paid for the lifetime downloads and it hasn't worked since I downloaded it. I am beyond pissed. When I tried to get a refund through paypal, they favored the seller. I call Bull *****!

Acquisition now Xtorrent2 ?

Having trouble getting Acquisition 2.2 (v223) to connect, link so many others...
Also opted in for "lifetime" support, like many others...

Used Acquisition for some years, since 2007, and it did okay. Recently I updated to 2.2 after installing osx Lion.
Port settings seem okay, Aq is able to open the required ports on the router. Included Aq in the list of files that are allowed to answer to incoming connections. Read all the postings in this thread to get it connecting again... I guess it must be an outside problem, maybe related to the demise of Limewire...

Today I noticed that the button "download acquisition" in the window "tips for downloading" now opens a window for downloading xtorrent2, again with the option to buy "lifetime: upgrades, I guess that Acquisition is dead, to be replaced by xtorrent2 by Spectacular Apps. Xtorrent does not accept the validation code (email) that I received for Acquisition.

If "lifetime upgrades" are only valid for the "original" Acquisition and does not enable Acquisition Pro or the recently released xtorrent2, I guess the value of opting in for "lifetime" is vary limited... I feel cheated.

Contacted Watanabe by email. Will keep you posted.
