I agree; it's more like "unreality" TV. Plus, I'm not sure what she'll "mentor" the developers about. How to get investors or how to market the apps?
Her part will likely be scripted, as will her co-mentors. She'll probably do a better job reading her lines than someone who has real experience. The actual mentoring will probably be done by the show's staff, and she'll come in for the re-enactments once they have been spiced up with better dialogue and some artificial conflict.

When she gives her rose to the winning developer, viewers who've stuck it out that far will have tears in their eyes.

She was Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four.

And she had a TV show called "Dark Angel". It was my favorite show. Also she was way better as Sue Storm than the reboot of the Fantastic Four Sue Storm. She seems very family focused now so I guess Planet of the Apes will be a way to get some quick spending cash without having to deal with the hassles of acting.

Give her a break guys, she's still a hottie.

She's cute.
This Jessica is a hottie.

Come on, you know all of you are going to watch it anyway, as will I. You can't turn away from a good dumpster fire.

Actually, I know a couple of people who are doing quite well writing custom apps for corporations. The app economy has gone vertical.

That's a really good point. Lots and lots of people making a good living programming, including for Apple platforms. But Apple doesn't get a cut because they don't go through the store.

I'm just sad this long form advertisement for the app store is going to delude people into believing there are millions of indie developers making a living off app store revenue.

Albo, Paltrow and will.i.am, mentors to app developers... WTF? They would struggle to give mentoring on Acting / singing..... as proven by will.i.am...

Using Apps as an adjunct to your product/service, seems more the goal of this than anything.
That's the kind of things Alba would actually bring rather than a straight up "pure play" type Apps which I agree few people make money on.

Her Honest diapers are ****. Like, literally. They don't hold baby's **** at all. A napkin would do a better job than their diapers.

Dear Apple,

What kind of ghetto crack cocaine are you smoking?!

This is the same Jessica Alba that was associated with the failed Windows Phone!

Arrrrgggghhh.

Apple Fanatic (waning)

This has to be the brain child of Eddy Cue as I believe he is in charge of services for Apple. He should be taken off this ASAP.

It is supposed to be a documentary of app developers so why are there B list actresses and entertainers as "mentors". It makes no sense other then trying to add "star power"to flog a dead horse as it were.

They should have gotten the creators of some of the app stores most popular apps to mentor new app starters. Would of been interesting.... this however will be nauseating.

I can't wrap my head around this show. Every time I read a new thing about it, it makes even less sense to me...

I know they are trying to get viewers by signing celebrities, but this is what's going to make this show fail. Many people won't take this seriously, and the people that come and watch because of the celebrities, won't like the concept of the show.

Jessica Alba's involvement is probably the kiss of death for this show. She's incredibly successful personally, but the roles she takes are usually all horrible and the movies all crash and burn at the box office (if they even get that far) with horrifying reviews.

So this will be like QVC: "This latest app will change your life forever, and we only have 999 left for the price of 0.79$ act now and your life will change forever, my pocket money certainly has."

Ah! But you forget, my young padawan, a horror movie this will be. :)

Apple is revealing itself to be a group of old people investors who have no idea how to handle a TV show. Will I Am? Jessica Alba? It's not the early 2000's.

Will I Am at least makes sense since he's been heavily involved in tech start ups in the past (either as an investor, creator or pitchman) and consulting with companies like Salesforce, etc. Jessica Alba on the other hand has done nothing substantial since Dark Angel (and I guess The Fantastic Four films). But who knows maybe she does a lot of tech stuff we aren't aware of. Do people even know who Jessica Alba is these days?

What next? Jessica Alba advising Apple on their Irish tax affairs?

That's preposterous, are you suggesting Jessica Alba advise Apple on something she's not qualified to do!! as oppose to her competency of App development?!

You deserve a job on the Planet of the Apps for that!
