Actually, Jet Black looks ugly. Planning to exchange mine.

Where has anyone said that people who use cases are fools? I only see the case people calling those who don't use cases fools and apparently cry babies who are gonna complain about a scratch. And laughing at someone because they're screen broke is also in bad taste, talk about karma. I use a case when I'm going to be in a high risk area, but most of the time I go case less. In all my years of using smartphones (since 2005) I've only broken one screen (my S7 Edge, which ironically was in a case at the time).

Interesting this post, the poster referred to people who used cases as fools by saying that those who would buy the jet black and put it in a case are double fools.

Finally an honest person Jet Black looks like they asked how can we make Metal Look like Plastic. Besides Jet Black Is Guranteed to have ZERO resale value due to all the Scratches Unless you put it in a case then that makes that person a double fool buying Jet Black and hiding away its looks in a cheap plastic case.

Now quote me where I called anyone a fool or cry baby for not using cases. Actually, I said do what you want, just don't refer to those of us who use cases as fools.

Now, you read past where my colleague laughed at me for using a case. Then I laughed back when he smashed his device and now uses cases. Karma.

Don't use a case. Don't care. But don't call us who prtrxt my devices fools.

My previous device goes to a family member every year. Of course I want it pristine when he/she gets it. Wby wouldn't I? When I give someone something I've used, I want it to be as pristine as possible.

I only saw the Jet Black model in person (no others) today, and it definitely looks worse in person. The 6/6s/7 all look very plastic-y and toy-like, to be honest. There is no question that the 4 and 5 series phones looked to be of higher quality.

Don't be so sure that the same situation would have happened to a naked user. Like I said, naked users tend to hold their iPhones more securely in their hand at all times (and they get used to doing it without thinking) whereas case users may not do that and it flies out of the hand when perturbed, etc. It's simply an acquired skill.

I miss space grey. I got matte black because I wanted the black front but I'm not at all enamoured with the colour. I am a fool who uses a case so it really doesn't matter at the end of the day.

The JB was covered in fingerprints, had a plastic look to it and just did not come off as impressive in pictures. On the other hand the matte black looked much better. Came home and cancelled my JB order.

Still going with rhino shield guard and best skins ever matte back skin for protection.

Totally agree. Saw the jet black for the first today and it was covered in so many smudges and therefore looked dirty. There was no visible scratches. Much preferred the matte black which had a cleaner more stealth look. Do not mind looking after your phone but think the jet black would take incredible amount of care. Do not like cases on iPhones if you not going to show it off unless want to change the way it looks. It however, sorts of defeats the purpose of buying a jet black phone. This is just me though and can see why some will love it which is what it is all all about....personal preference.

It is crazy how different pictures can look compared to in person. I was shocked by the look and feel of jet black.

I was adamant I wanted the Jet Black, even with the scratch talk. Finally made it into my local Apple Store today. Couldn't get close to the one Jet Black model they had on display due to crowds, went to see the matte black one and instantly loved it.
When I finally got to see the Jet Black I was really disappointed with how cheap and plastic-like it looked.
Changed my order to a Matt Black Plus, have to wait an extra week now but I feel glad that someone waiting for a Jet Black might get theres sooner now!

And it only took me 2 minutes looking at them side by side in the Apple Store in Glasgow to feel justified in my pre-order decision.

Don't get me wrong, the black looks good, but the JB looks stunning. Yeah, it will have some marks and finger prints, but so will all the others. They might not show them as much, by then they don't look quite as good.

Come on Apple, get mine in the post please!

I didn’t like the Jet Black when i saw it at the shop, looks a bit cheep and plasticy. On the other hand the Matte Black looks sharp, also the Silver looks nice if i would like to have white bezel.

I think the colors are just stoopid and always have. These things are expensive, and due to having all your **** on the device, makes little sense to NOT have it protected. So once it is in a case the color of the device matters almost zero.

I saw both the Matte and Jet Black yesterday and I think they both look really great but the Jet Black looks absolutely incredible like a polished jewel. For sure it'll get scratched if you don't put a case on it but remember there are ultra thin clear cases available. Some as thin as 0.35mm - Barely even visible and completely clear.

That kind of case would protect the finish while still allowing you to see and enjoy the jet black shine.

For people who 100% do not want to put any case even one so thin it's practically invisible but still don't want to risk scratching for sure get the Matte Black it still looks great, just not as great in my opinion.

Which ultra thin cases are good? Im thinking about putting a full body clear skin on my JB + and using a thin see-through case on it.

I got the jet black. But I always have my phones in cases. Let me tell you, I was shocked when I removed the case from my 6+ to take out the sim card. It's silver! I do remove my case occasionally to clean it, but I guess I really don't pay attention. The color of the back of the phone doesn't really matter to me, it's the black on the front that I like.

I don't think jealousy has anything to do with this. Everyone should be happy with their choices and hopefully everyone is. If there are any second thoughts or doubts though people should see both colors in person. Best way to decide.

I don't know about a deep black but it's definitely black. It's about as black as my black Apple Watch band.
