This is probably something simple. I hope. I have been trying to find out the answer to it since I got Mojave.

Finder, in the left-hand column, gives me shortcuts to my drives and "Network." So when I want to access a folder on my desktop or Documents, or anywhere else, I have to drill down 5 or 6 layers.

I used to be able to just drag a down-the-line folder, and it would stay there and become a shortcut.

That doesn't seem to be the way to do it with Mojave. So I'm looking for someone to give me the method by which to do this.

It's still possible to do, right?

As long as you're dragging it into the "Favorites" category, it should stick on the left side. Make sure you don't have the folders under favorites collapsed by hovering over it and choosing "Show".

If you don't see favorites section at all, go to Finder » Preferences in your menu bar, and make sure at least one folder is checked for favorites in the sidebar tab. The category won't show up if there is not at least one folder in there.

Edit: Actually, I just tested and it looks like if there are no favorites, you can also drag a folder to the very top of the sidebar to add it and bring the favorites back. You should see a blue bar appear indicating where you can drop it.

Hrm. I went to Preferences and see what you're saying, but going by what you said, all my old shortcuts should already be there as they were already selected. Is there something I have to do to make them be recognized?

Here is a screenshot of what the left pane and Preferences looks like with that left pane looks like and has looked like since Mojave. Am I doing something wrong?

Oh, jeez! Never mind. It was just me being an idiot. By default, my FAVORITES were hidden.

Thank you, and sorry for wasting your time.
