I don't know if we know the whole story there. I've felt that perhaps she was going to sell a physical edition with no CD but a download code, so that you had the album booklet etc in some sort of a new design.
Oh. I suppose that kind of makes more sense.

Streaming pays about 1 cent for each stream. A Million streams gets $10,000. Chump change compared to concerts or Album sales. Everyone wants to pay as little as possible for the Music they like, but new upcoming songwriter/artists live in poverty because of streaming.

Greedy. This is just to force people to buy the full album instead of just streaming it. My guess is this will also force lots of people to pirate it.
Whose greedy?

I will re word your comment.

This is just to force people to buy the full album instead of just streaming it to me for free

Perhaps she should sell it for free as well

I listened to the full album this morning and I can see why they want to force you to buy the whole thing. I'm a big Adele fan, but "Hello" is the only truly great song on the album.

I pay Apple Music every month. I don't know what you mean.

Cause she ain't got enough money already.... these music artists are so greedy and short sighted. These streaming services are designed to open you up to new music artists, so maybe you become a fan, maybe you watch their videos on Youtube, maybe you go see them live a as a result.

Adele is worth $75 million and she is complaining?

They claim they work so hard... ********, you're not working 12 hours a day doing manual labor in **** conditions for min wage with no future and no money to have a life. You're off making millions and having the time of your life doing it, sitting around doing nothing most of the time..

They always want more money out of people who don't have it. Maybe children use their parents service, what do they do then? Pirate it and then they'll cry piracy and fine that family crazy amounts just for that kid downloading the music.
Where do you see her complaining? Nothing in this article or in the New York Times.

And yeah.. She is so greedy, she only in it for a money grab

Maybe not.

bought the album after I watched todays BBC Adele Special Show. Try to find it on the net. it is worth it.

that's exactly how I feel. It is no different than the A and B rated movie packages, where you had to buy B rated movies in a package to get the A rated movies. It is so lame that people can produce B rated material (not saying at all that any of Adele's music less quality than others') and force us to buy it to get the one hit.

Maybe if you wanted to listen to the Target version of the album with the 3 extra tracks on? Are they available as downloads?
I coughed up dollars for the album. For those 3 bonus tracks also. I like her music. Beautiful album, too. In fact I'm listening to it now. Uploaded to iTunes and now streaming with minutes.

This is not really news.

I used to pay for Spotify. For a period of 12 months I paid more to listen to music than I've ever paid before or since.

I stopped paying when I realised that the streaming debut of albums were purposely delayed for months, including Adele's '21'. Now I just listen for free instead.

I like how the music industry incentivizes me to stop paying for music. Thank you for encouraging me to spend my money elsewhere.

Those complaining about Adele not streaming her music on Apple Music are probably some of the same people calling for a boycott of Amazon because they don't have their streaming app on the Apple TV. There are some Apple followers that really seem to have a sense of entitlement. Apple is not the centre of the world.

No thanks, it's pretty clear there's no reason behind this other than "I want more money from the stuff I make." No regard for evolving technology. Adele, streaming services are in which is why everyone was forced to make one in order to keep up with the trend.

I'll probably listen to the album to see what the fuss is about but I won't be paying for the it... if you catch my drift.

What makes you think it is Adele's job to support/promote/supply content for evolving technology?

She is a popular singer with a unique voice and has likely spent hundreds of thousands of dollars recording the music, and even more promoting it. And yes, that is her debt, not the record company's. So why shouldn't she want to maximise the value of her music while it is new and still valuable?

Also, with streaming services it is not her fans that are buying the music, it is Apple paying her a fraction of a cent when someone plays the song on their service. Apple are a customer that can afford to pay more, if they think that Adele is a valuable addition to the AM library that will keep existing/attract new users then they can pay more for the privilege.

As a non-streamer it does not affect me too much. I look forward to downloading and owning whatever music I like. What really gets me is that there is still restrictions by country and there are songs that if I want I have to pirate because they are not available in the US iTunes store, but in the UK or other country iTunes store. This practice drives piracy and the labels need to get real. also giving away the videos through youtube means i don't need to buy or even stream. Labels just don't get it.

What drives piracy is a culture of entitlement and instant gratification coupled with low moral standards and no respect for the work and efforts of others.

People who insist on piracy probably like to work for free since they are altruistic and without greed. They're so hip to the new world of technology and the utopian sharing economy that they get all their music for free on TBP, drive their parents car for Uber but don't bother owning their own, borrow silverware from restaurants, install ATM skimmers as their day job, and are Android fanbois.

Kudos to Adele and Taylor Swift for actually taking a stand against the anemic payouts from streaming music services. I'm sure the rest of you would do the same if your work was devalued to the same extent (and possessed the same cojones).

Totally agree- I subscribe to Apple Music and I love it but I just wonder how artists make money from it- I have access o practically every song ever recorded but pay next to nothing for it- it's ok for the back catalogue but how is this sustainable for the future??

Also I've BROUGHT the album on iTunes and it's great. It's a real grower but definitely up there with 19 and 21.

I already see those Target USA 14 track version on ebay UK for around $30 inc P&P

Wouldn't mind a copy of that myself, but not for $30. I'm suprised no UK retailer has been given a regional exclusive to it. Will the 14 track version ever be available in UK. There is the same 14 version known as the 'Japanese Import' also.
Not sure how the record company work it.
It would be ironic if the streaming services get the 14 track version in a few week time.

No one has to buy the whole thing. If you only like "Hello" then just buy that for £0.99.

If you are really not happy with the "quality" of the purchase apple will refund your money.
Just click on the 'Report a Problem' link on your e-mailed receipt. Tell them you are not happy.

I'm a huge apple fan. I own a lot of apple products. I even subscribed to Apple Music for like 5 months. Apple Music is terrible. I don't like it.

1) my music keeps getting unplayable after I download it for offline play. So i have to keep downloading gigs of music.
2) it's very sensitive. If you have music playing and you reboot your phone most of your music will stop working and you'll have to download everything again.

3) the user interface is counter intuitive and clunky.

Following in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, Adele is opting to restrict her upcoming album from streaming music services. "25," Adele's highly anticipated album set to release tomorrow, will not be available on Apple Music, Spotify, or other Internet-based streaming music services, reports The New York Times.

Citing three sources with knowledge of the album release plans, The New York Times says Adele was involved in the decision not to share her album on streaming music services. "25" is Adele's first album in nearly five years and has been preceded by "Hello," a single that's already extremely popular, so the decision to restrict the album from streaming services may make fans unhappy.

Taylor Swift was one of the first major artists to take a stand against streaming music, opting to pull her songs from services like Spotify that offered a free listening tier. According to Swift, she did so because "music should not be free" and artists should value their work. It's likely Adele has similar motives, as restricting Swift's latest album "1989" from music sites did not significantly impact its popularity. "1989" sold upwards of 1.2 million copies during its first week of availability, and its believed Adele's new album could sell 2.5 million copies.

Swift initially refused to share her songs on Apple Music because Apple executives did not intend to pay artists during the Apple Music free trial period, but after the company reversed course, she too changed her mind and allowed Apple Music to stream "1989" and her other albums.

While Adele's new music will not be available on Apple Music, customers interested in obtaining the album will be able to purchase it through iTunes.

Adele had also asked Apple to stock her new album in its retail stores, but Apple declined the offer. It's not likely the refusal impacted Adele's decision not to offer her music on streaming sites, and Adele and Apple have also reportedly discussed a possible $30 million tour sponsorship. The status of that potential deal is not known.

I've tried

Spotify for years with ios app
Google Play Music with ios app
Apple Music (3month free)

I find Google Play Music to be overall brilliant. Some 'uploads' do show as duplicates sometimes. But I think thats my tagging.

Apple music I tried for about an hour and gave up, not good, but I'm sure it works for some.

I'm sticking with Google Play Music for approx £8.50 a month its like having your own record store chain.
