Flash haters UNITE!!! ;)

I like Flash, it's a great tool in the hand of a competent developer.

The biggest annoyance of Flash is advertising in my book. But if you take Flash out of the picture, some other tech "will" take its place. So I can't agree with those that constantly gripe about banner adds. If you don't like them, disable the plug-in or download a Flash Blocker -- the good blockers will let you pick and choose which content to block.

@ mahonmeister

On the Mac, QT, DVD offload much of the work to the system's GPU.

The current Flash Player is completely dependent on a system's CPU(s). It also doesn't help if you encounter a poorly built video player and there's about 3 Flash banners on the same page sucking up CPU time.

The "current" as in latest Flash Player 10 (maybe also 9?) does support GPU acceleration of video, but only on certain VGA cards and possibly limited to video codecs, too.

Nice to see some progress though.

Wish they'd update Flash Player for OS 9 or Linux PPC though so we have a use for all those dead but colourful iMacs!
