Umm, the plugins are separate Apps. You would know this if you used FCS.
I use FCS daily. How about you?
And calling plug-ins separate apps is semantics.
Why are they called plug-ins and not apps?

You need to stop believing in the "bigger is better" mindset. More developers wont necessarily mean faster or better completion.
Okay, so by this and "Apple can either tackle one thing at a time" you mean that same developers should develop different apps, one at a time?
Feels like they have already done this, judging by how much there has been advancement in FCS in last 3 years.
Hope we get background rendering by 2020...

They are Micro-Apps, that you can launch separately. By nature Plugins can only be launched inside another program.

Well, in a development group, you can either get the whole group to complete select items at a time or you can split up the group to work on multiple projects/things. The first one turns out projects slowly but they're usually of better quality. The latter one gets projects out quickly but there can be a lack of polish and check.

Feels like they have already done this, judging by how much there has been advancement in FCS in last 3 years.

If you don't like FCS then don't use it. Seriously.

Maybe by then they'll have fixed the "insufficient content" and "cannot split a transition" errors that have been sitting there for almost a decade.

Lazy!

Oh I hope CS5 fixed some major bugs (I have CS3 now). Adobe software went to **** after they bought out macromedia...

Anyway I'm afraid to install the trial for fear of the Adobe installer (which is supposedly missing....).

For those who don't know the Adobe CS4 trial hijacked your system and wouldn't let you open your legal bought and paid for CS3 until you had a CS4 license. And good luck reinstalling CS3 because even using app cleaner programs, you couldn't reinstall CS3 once the CS4 trial was on the machine because halfway through the CS3 install it asked for the CS4 disks!

Luckily my machine was backed up on time machine and I was able to recover my CS3 by simply copying the folder back in but my coworkers were not so lucky and had to reimage the machine.

Adobe had no solution to this either but instead recommended to upgrade to the "great new features" of CS4....

If someone can confirm that the crappy installer is gone I may try this...

I agree - CS4 has a few bugs I don't care for and those only add weight to Steve Jobs' comment. I hope CS5 fixes them, especially in Flash (it'll be losing influence, but it'll still be a few years yet.)

That's not entirely true. If you buy CS4 or CS5 as a student, you can use it professionally, for commercial work, even after you are out of school.

!!!!!

I thought that wasn't the case, but if that's true my adoring of Adobe has just went up.

They have changed their student license terms. I owned CS3 and couldn't use it to design stuff at work (cause it's ethically wrong). I bought the CS4 full retail upgrade, and before I even received it, I found out they had changed their policy regarding commercial work. With my CS4 student license I can use it for commercial work in North America. With CS5 they have even lifted the North America restriction—worldwide commercial use is now permitted. There are restrictions still, such as only installing it on private, personal computers. That's not an issue for me. You can read more about these things at http://studenteditions.adobe.com/

I'm also including a screenshot of that page which shows on their site that's it legit. I'm excited that CS5 was just released, because I graduate VERY soon (5 days), and I can pick up a copy of Design Premium for $359 at my university bookstore before I leave. :D

Man, that's just dishonest business to me... push a "free trial" that ends up forcing you into the paid version... It's no better than the porn sites of the 90's. "100% FREE... but enter your Credit Card info so we can confirm you are over 18"

Instead of Boycott flash I say, Boycott the entire company until they change their attitude.

with that you made me laugh like i never did.
let me explain this in an easy way for you to understand.

if apple boycotts adobe then apple will die or do you think that the major design companies use only macs because they look cool?

apple boycotts adobe -> adobe stops making, selling and supporting software for macs -> design companies stop buying macs -> apple struggles.

do you really think that the regular "john" is apple's target in computers?

The design companies use macs because of lots of reasons: historically macs have supported a plethora of technologies critical to the graphics/video industry. They where far superior in terms of fonts, color management, postscript, etc. AND they ran Adobe's software. Nowadays hardware is cheaper/more powerful, Windows machines are catching up and Adobe is favoring them, but it's still not the same.

For web/graphics you really need Adobe's software right now on the Mac.
But for video, FCP is big (far bigger than Premiere -not exactly a milestone, let's admit).

Apple has grown from a niche market of creative pros to a company that delivers affordable and easy to use MacBooks, iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches for the average Joe, and they are doing quite well. Apple's dependence in Adobe is far less than half its sales right now. Adobe is NOT so lucky.

So, if they actually go full-monthy on this one, who do you really think is in a weaker position?

That is good that they allow for that, however, if you are not a student and have a student buy you a copy of CS5 they will consider that pirating, I read a page they had somewhere so that people can turn in users who don't have proper licenses, that is where I saw the info about how the student license can't used for pro work. It was a while ago, but I don't think they would change that.

Yeah,
Apple really need to slow down with their updates and upgrades to get better quality in them.
It took only 1.5 years to correct the audio-firewire bug on MP.
If they would have taken 1 year more for fixing that single bug, the fix would have had unbelievable quality!
