Thanks. I didn't realize that the adobe flash vulnerability was a non important story and was moved to a page 2 status.
It's not really "page 2" or "non important", it's more that it's Mac specific and is thus in the Mac Blog section (rather than the more general Front Page section).

I was on the LA Times website a couple of hours ago and apparently had a newer version of this malware attempt to install itself. The usual window to update Flash came up. I had Flash set to notify me of updates - I don't have anything set to automatic update.

I was using Safari and I had the latest security updates running on my MBP from Apple and Adobe - OS X 10.11.4. I updated my version of Flash through Adobe as soon as I read this article. I thought about uninstalling it at that time but I figured I've got the latest versions from Adobe - so I'm okay.

I checked and confirmed that I had the latest versions of Flash through system preferences - so no update was required. The bogus updater DMG was in my downloads folder asking me to run it.

This was the last straw for me as far as Flash is concerned. It's uninstalled forever on my machines.

If you use Safari and just disable Flash completely those sites will resort to HTML5. Tested on Safari 9.1

Safari 9.1 and this site plays video in HTML5. I have Flash completely disabled.
Never mind.
