Yeah, no thanks.

I'll let chrome handle flash. There's no reason for flash to interact at all with the operating system.

Remove the prefpane than from either the ~/Library/PreferencePane or /Library/PreferencePane.

Problem solved.

No, it isn't. Because then I still have to go hunting around to delete my flash cookies and other files associated with flash which is why combining them was my suggestion. Not getting rid of it.

I find it nice that Adobe still tries hard with Flash. Apple has mocked it so much that I wouldn't have been surprised if Adobe had stopped serious development of Flash for OS X. 10.2 brought great HW acceleration and it's very usable now, even on battery. I haven't even had lots of crashes.

These are definitely the steps Flash needs.

That wasn't initially your complaint though. You complained about Preference Panes.

It is just a pref pane. It isn't like it has more access to the system now than the version that is bundled inside of Chrome. It just provides an interface to delete Flash cookies and such that you used to have to go to Adobe.com for.

Note: I have uninstalled Flash and use Chrome if anything pops up that requires Flash for whatever reason.

PS: You can also uninstall pref panes by right clicking them and removing.

How about have a setting to only show a "preview", like a screenshot of the flash file and have a "Show content" button. That way you load the Screenshots fast, no battery drained, not much struggling for the computer etc. The only problem that will appear is with advertisements :) But that sure doesn't bother us, the surfers!

Once again, no, it wasn't. My original post stated nothing of the sort.

"I guess it wasn't enough that I had to see their uninstaller in my Utilities folder. Now I have to see their system preference pane too. Just combine them."

I said to combine them. Not to get rid of the functionality present in either nor was I specifically complaining about there being a preference pane. If they want to have a preference pane then they should remove the uninstaller or vice versa while maintaining the same amount of functionality present before.

Problems

Under Safari my YouTube videos no longer load. On Firefox, they work fine. Anyone else have this problem?

I keep getting update notifications for Adobe Acrobat and Flash (on windows) every other week. Bloody annoying. Why can't they just release a version without issues and let me use that. I don't want fancy new features, i just want a stable version of flash i don't have to keep updating!

These updates usually fix critical security holes, and you are advised to update as quickly as possible. Most Windows viruses and Trojans come through Flash, Java and PDF files these days.

Quite often the holes are already exploited "in the wild" when the fix is released. So better hurry, as annoying as it might be.

You can congratulate Sun/Oracle and Adobe for not implementing a better, less intrusive update mechanism.

Which is part of the problem. People don't update them. Flash is one of those programs like Firefox that is updated constantly. While annoying when are people going to realize that having a computer requires maintaining it! When your Check Engine Light goes on do you complain that Honda is being so annoying and intrusive?

Seems adobe is getting the message, get with it make it better faster and tighter.

Is competition not grand :D

If it did weekly I would certainly complain, esp with the top-rated brand for reliability. That's the point, Flash is so poorly managed by Adobe.

I'd like to see embedded Flash players get updated. How can we get Adobe to work on THAT? The new features in 10.2 are useless until the players online are updated. Like every single TV network in the USA.

Although 10.2 does skip a whole lot less. I wish SJ went off on them in 2000 instead of 2010. Maybe this wouldn't even be news, anymore if we'd had a decade of functional Flash.

Actually i'd prefer not to have to use flash at all but some sites i visit need it. If they change then good bye flash!

You should do what I do... and what fishmoose does (see below). Remove flash and open Chrome when you need it. I find I am happier having Safari run longer without crashing and having to open chrome when I need than I was wondering why my iMac was running so darn slow and Safari would crash when Flash was enabled.

I've already uninstalled Flash and is cheating with Chrome and I have no plans of ever going back to Flash in my preferred browser Safari.

Nobody's forcing you to use it. I don't know why you're so angry, it seems like you're making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Flash 10.3 will still suck.

Mark my words: Flash 10.3 will still suck.

Flash 10.3 will be a CPU hog on Macs, and make the cooling fans spin like crazy. Just like every Flash version that preceded it.

Flash was, is, and will always be, a piece of crap. Adobe is too lazy and too greedy to optimize it.

Embedded as in OS embedded and Browser embedded? That's not Adobe's problem. That's the people embedding its responsibility.

I know. Does that mean I can't want it updated?

And yes, Adobe should consider this their problem. It's called advertising and public perception.

Well clearly I AM using it so I would like it to be unobtrusive as possible for it being a browser plug in. What's next, Adobe's going to install a special flash wallpaper for you to use and on top of the flash icon they'll put in your dock they'll still have the flash icon in your utilities folder along with the flash icon in your system preferences? If Adobe wants to have anything visible on the system for a plugin it should be in one area.

I agree with you. You have to admit though in that particular case they can't do anything. With that said hopefully this is a step in the right direction. Flash isn't going away anytime soon unfortunately either are the terrible flash programmers that riddle the internet.

Turn the notifications off than. You're acting like you are being forced into all of this.

What the hell are you talking about? Notifications? I never mentioned update notifications once.

I'm being forced to have Adobe's logos scattered around my system if I want to use their browser plug-in. If Adobe wants to make their software function correctly with simple features that should've been included since day one then keep them in one place on my system.

Your complains keep evolving.
