The software is bad. Keeping it for short term profit means long term loss. That's also bad.Like it or not, this is the reality surrounding you ( don't get me wrong, in an ideal World, things would be different... but this is the World we live in and it's far from ideal ). You're of course free to lead your own business in a completely different manner, I merely pointed out two of the main reasons why business are most likely not throwing away software...
Reality does not surround anything in the way that you're using the term. You're talking about circumstances, which change over time. That is the reality. Acting as if circumstances are reality is short sighted. That's a big part of why American businesses fail so frequently and why foreign competitors (i.e.: Japanese cars vs Detroit in the 70s and 80s) and upstarts like Apple in the 80s and Tesla today are able to leapfrog these businesses. They see the difference between reality and circumstance. The reality here is that Flash sucks. The circumstance is that many businesses have relied on it.@cwt1nospam Sorry, I don't understand what are you trying to get to... Are you arguing that "this" is not what is surrounding you? ( maybe it's not, but are you sure you're not biased and you're not missing out on the bigger picture because of it? ) Are you saying that in your opinion, the examples given and arguments brought are just "circumstances" / a handful of cherry-picked situations?
...
My point was that the sooner people accept the reality that is surrounding them ( be it good or bad ), perhaps the sooner they can start doing something about it ( if they really want to / can ). You can of course disagree, ignore, whatever works for you...
Making complex development simple for users is a bad idea because it allows them to get deep into things they know very little about. Bad things are bound to happen. The original Flash worked perfectly for artists who were not programmers to be able to do simple interactive projects. Simple actionscripts could be modified and used. Now it has become so complex that ONLY programmers can use it and even then with a lot of practice. I miss the simplicity. Imagine being able to do this with an HTML5 version that allowed say interactive children's books. Why is this NOT being done? Crazy. A gold mine waiting to happen.
