In the UK is it best to pre-order on Apple website or is it better to go to an apple store and wait in line?
Can also recommend the Apple app. Make sure you pre load all your account info etc, and enable express check out, and then pre order takes less than a minute. I've found the app store opens first and minutes count sometimes. On the I-Pad mini a white 16G Wi-Fi sold out in 15 minutes where it went from delivery day availability to 2 weeks later. And with the app you don't have to constantly hit refresh all the time.
They closed the App Store about 2 hrs before and it said updating will return soon. At 12:01 AM Cupertino time (PAC) the App Store changed and opened automatically. My mini was ordered in less than a minute, conf number given and done. About 2 minutes later a confirming e-mail arrived. I was done on app before the store on my desktop even opened, and I was refreshing it every 30 seconds. Web site opened 5 min later. Definitely will use App again.Does the app auto update or how do you refresh it?

Thanks for this advice. I had a feeling the app would be the best option but I wasn't sure. This will be my first time pre-ordering an Apple product online vs. getting it in store (busy on the rumored 20th release).
It is kind of fun watching progress. In processing for 2 days then you get a Ups or Fed Ex tracking number to your door at delivery day.
Fun for someone that pre-orders quickly for sure. Unlike me who ordered an iPhone 5 through AT&T on September 30th and saw it on back order till the last week of October when I finally got it.
That being said, I'm excited to be one of the first lol.
It is fun, only bummer is East coast means 3 AM, then your charged up and can not sleep.
I'm a bit confused here (sorry). I'm on Eastern time, does that mean that I can order it on the 19th into the 20th at 3:00 am or wait till Friday the 20th to order at 3:00 am into Saturday ?.
I will also be using the app this year as apposed to a walk in. Very excite ! I'm so over my 4s and extremely eager to get my hands on a 5s hopefully w/ 128gb. If not an options he 64gb will be it. 16gb is def not enough for anything now a days (for me personally).
Thanks ...

Thanks all!
Another question - so if the phone is released on the 20th, and I pre-ordered it right as it was available, would I theoretically get it on the 20th? Or does it ship on the 20th?

If you pre-order early enough, then it would be launch day delivery. But you'd have to be within that first wave of deliveries and they sold out of those by 7 am last year.
Just be ready when the App Store reopens, and you will. Your smart setting your account info up now. Good luck. Thanks a lot for this advice! Got the app ready now I hope can get one on launch day.
