Advice: Have any guys here chosen the GOLD iPhone 8/8+?

Hey, I’m needing your advice. I’m thinking about purchasing a iPhone 8+ in Gold. The issue is my friend who’s a girl said she sees a pink hue. I see copper, beige or bronze when I stare at it.

My question is to any males here can a guy pull the gold off? And if you’re a guy and got the 8 did you get gold?
 
I saw the gold color in stores and really liked it. My favorite gold Apple has released for sure. I hate the white front, so it’s SG only for me, but if they’d made the gold with a black front I would have chosen it for sure.

Masculinity is what you make it. Get what you like and own it.

It looks more pink to me. especially if you look at some youtube videos between rose gold vs iPhone 8 gold. maybe this is one of those 'is the dress blue or black' situations...

that being said, I got it. and I got it from t mobile so I am not going to return it and pay a restocking fee...I guess time will tell how many comments I get.
 
My wife has a shirt from Ann Taylor that is the exact same color. Not pink. Not gold. Not white. Somewhat of a combination.
 
Male, Gold iPhone 8 Plus owner here -

It definitely has a pinkish hue, but this color REALLY fluctuates depending on the lighting. Like you, I at times see copper/bronze too...but trust me, there’s a little pink there. It’s DEFINITELY not as pink as the Rose Gold of years past though.

Like others said though, if you like it, get it. Screw everyone else. I happen to love it!

I got one. And as others have said it really changes colors in various lighting situations. I would call it more copper than gold, and if you ever look at copper it can have many different shades. There can definitely be some pinkish tones, and I admit to toying with trading it in for space gray. But I wanted something different as I always have gone for the black bezel color choice. It’s unique and I am sticking with it (c:=

All that matters is if you like the color, I wouldn't worry about anyone else thinks whatever you decide to choose. I have Gold and think it looks great.

I’m surprised anyone takes that much interest, it’s just a phone. I was surprised how pink the gold is compared to my iPad and iPhone 6 but it’s grown on me.

Can’t say anyone else has commented.

Just to add to the best piece of advice that has already been given. Buy what YOU like, not what the internet says you should like.

FWIW having seen my girlfriends and swayed several times between awful and horrendous, I think it's comfortably the worst looking phone Apple have ever put out, ever.

The gold and pinky/beige kinda reminds me of my grandmas wardrobe.

Plenty will disagree and will sleep comfortably tonight with their gold purchase as should you if that's the path you take.

End of the day it's a phone and no colour is gender specific.

The gold iPhone 8/8+ looks beautiful IMHO. The best looking gold so far and the best looking color in the 8 series. Unfortunately, I don’t like white bezels and I see the bezels all the time whenever I use the phone, so that’s the most important aspect to me. Had that not been the case, I would have picked the gold and yes, I’m a guy. It does look a bit feminine to me but unlike the rose gold of the past, it does not look girly. Now, is it a problem that it looks a bit feminine? Only if you let it be so. Most people don’t care in western society at this point and if they do, they’re probably not worth wasting your time on anyway. At the end of the day, it’s just an object. An object to be used and admired. The phone isn’t you. It’s your companion. Which companion do you choose?

I’m gonna be devils advocate here and say you shouldn’t get the gold. The fact you’ve made this topic means you’re not comfortable with the idea of it potentially looking girly and nothing anyone on here says will change that. You’ll always have it in the back of your mind if you get it.

I agree with everyone that you shouldn’t care but if you didn’t you would have already bought it by now lol.
 
I pre-ordered the gold and swapped it out on launch day for a silver one. Like others have said, it looks very different in various types of lighting and the back...I dunno. I guess I was hoping it would be a little closer to a champagne color, but it’s a lot warmer and less metallic than that.

If you like what you see, then keep it. I think they all look good, the gold one just wasn’t for me.

Exactly. If you like something, what does it matter what others think? Anyone that would think less of you because of the colour of your phone (ot anything else you own for that matter) are not worth your time.
 
Male here, bought the gold 8 plus. Not 100% sold in the pinkish back but the frame is the colour I wish the previous gold phones had been.
 
i rocked a rose gold 6s for about 365 days and loved every second of it.

I don't see an issue with the gold 8. My gf just got one and if I needed an 8 I'd cop the gold as well.
 
I've seen it in person a few times. To me, it reminds of that nasty yellowish color that white plastic turns after many years. I don't think it's particularly feminine, if that's your concern, but it's just ugly IMO. YMMV because I've only seen it in one type of lighting, though the photos of it I've seen agree with my in-person viewing of it. With the breakable glass black and slippery aluminum edges, I'd use a case/wrap with this phone anyway, so it doesn't matter what the back of it looks like.

I've yet to see the silver in person, but it looks great in photos.
 
IMO the silver is the most badass color on the 8.. but for me.. I just did years with white bezels and I want a change.
