Advice on purchasing a Macbook/MBP for girlfriend?

Which leads to a second point: is there a good reason there are people in these forums who seem to need to make the point that they have a girlfriend? It's comical how many times I read posts that say "my g/f has this laptop" or "my g/f and I..." or "i'm getting my g/f this (insert Apple product)..." ...said in such a way that the poster wants us to know he has a g/f. Pure observation - maybe I'm alone but it's funny because it's often shared by someone and it's COMPLETELY irrelevant to whatever topic is being discussed.

I think it's in your head, heh I mean, you're not going to pay much attention to people who say things like "my wife and I both use..." or "my other half..." or even "my brother has this one, and I have that.." are you? Or is it just something about them being his girlfriend that makes it seem like showing off?

I think it being the OP's girlfriend is quite relevant, though, in this case! What a lucky lady is all I can say. All I got this year was, err... well, absolutely nothing


If she likes your current MBP I'd go with that, IF you have need of a new laptop yourself. If you don't want to upgrade at this time then you could splash out on one for her. But, if you did decide to give her your MBP I'd look for something that you could get that would personalise it for her. A case of her favourite colour, a few accessories you think she'll like, that sort of thing.
