Get the white if that's what you really want. Don't worry about what other's might think. It's clean and classy looking IMO. I've always had the black version until I upgraded to iphone5. I think the white with the silver back is more pleasing to the eyes than the black/gray. If it helps you feel more at ease, add a black case. It gives it a nice contrast, and might make it more gender neutral. I plan on using the same color coordination for my iphone6 upgrade.

I'm getting the silver/white, and I had a bowl of broken glass and diesel fuel for breakfast. I'm so manly, Chuck Norris asks ME for advice.

I don't want to sound rude but people that are worry about whipping out a white color iPhone in front of their guy friends are basically saying they are sissy's. Man up and get what you want.
I don't know in what planet white is a "girly" color. What are we in preschool?
Really though who cares? The few people who would make fun of someone for their color of choice is a douchebag you shouldn't associate yourself with in the first place.

Dude I had a Silver 5 and Gold 5S, no one will care what color phone you have. Get the color you want.
I'm a Guy and I am going to try to get GOLD. I will only switch if it becomes way to backordered. I tried to get a iPhone 5s in gold last year and they were backordered on launch time 2:10am last time at October 27th ish...
Rather than ragging on the OP for caring what others think (like EVERYONE does by the way... they just lie about it to try and hide their own insecurities), I will first say this: Given the choice, MORE MEN choose the black, and MORE WOMEN choose the silver/white.
It is what it is. It doesn't make it girly per se, but the silver/white is preferred by women and the black is preferred by men.
If you like the silver more, get it. If you care about what other people think enough to have it influence that decision (and there is NOTHING wrong with that) then get the black.
High end phones (especially the iPhone) are status symbols. People can bemoan that all they want, but it's fact even if they don't think of it that way themselves. Apple sure does, otherwise they wouldn't describe the phone using all of the "beauty" words they do. It's fashionable. Period.

Remember this? To me, the white and silver design defines Apple's i-devices, and so I always buy white iPhones.
They do define i-devices but as a woman, I think the black front looks better (the back for me will be covered but even as such, I'd avoid the gold over the silver if I had a choice).
And if people really cared, we could talked about f'ed up gender stereo types that people use. Be who you are and don't fear any people who would spew about ignorant ideas where men have to super manly and fearful of anything remotely feminine and women have to be super girly and fear being called a 'tom boy' or worse.
It's fine. Now if we see you with a pink gold Apple Watch next year, we're going to have to talk.
Just be sure to put it in a manly case. That way it doesn't get scratched up in your purse.
