Hey, I appreciate your reply. Just to give you guys some feedback what's going on:
1)
Image Retention. After 2 weeks of usage, I noticed image retention on my unit. For some context: 80% of my work is done in Chrome. Even though setting the Mac screen saver to 1 minute definitely helped a lot, I still get static screens fairly often (e.g., hours of meetings). The LCD Conditioning feature has definitely helped a lot, and after running it for 30 minutes, it somewhat solved the issue, though not permanently. It removes "old" image retention pretty quickly, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get a new one, lol. The fact that this feature exists shows that Dell is aware of the issue. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If your workflow is pretty dynamic, I think you’ll be fine. Running LCD Conditioning isn’t necessary to clear the crystals; it can be done on its own, depending on what you're currently displaying on the monitor. The images I showed you earlier were the worst I’ve seen, and it’s something you might expect if you leave a static Chrome bar on the screen for a couple of hours straight.
These are just my observations after 3 weeks of usage. It may get worse over time, or it may not, or I might notice new "patterns" of when this issue tends to show up, so don’t take it as gospel.
2)
Ghosting. Another problem I’ve noticed with this monitor. I didn’t notice a big difference when switching the response time between Normal, Fast, and Extreme. The more expensive version U2725QE also
has this problem as per review. I can see some blur when scrolling or switching virtual desktops extremely fast. It's not a dealbreaker for me. I also tried gaming on this monitor - it wasn’t bad at all. It may not be perfect for competitive games, but it's definitely acceptable. I’m pretty satisfied with it for casual gaming.
The biggest plus for me with this monitor is the ease of switching input source when I turn off mac and turn on PC (auto input mode is GOAT), the built-in USB hub, and even the fact that you press power button and monitor turns off / on immediately is what I really like. Honestly? I’m pretty satisfied. The minimalistic design is also a big advantage for me. I don’t plan to return my unit. I’m absolutely tired of trying to find "the best" monitor. I just hope they will do better in a couple of years when I will be upgrading lol. So my final verdict is that, even though the panel isn’t ideal, the overall UX/UI and usage experience are really good.
Please let me know if you have any questions, happy to help.
P.S. and btw front ports are amazing, I use them daily, saves me time.
