Since iOS 16 it had been taking 10 to 30 seconds for my HomeKit buttons to respond (turning on a scene or running a shortcut that toggles a light).
Updated my 2 AppleTVs, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac. After they were all updated I tapped update architecture on my iPhone and it took less than 2 seconds.
All my devices respond instantly again now and I have no issues so everything was great with this update for me.

In case anyone runs into similar issues... I reset the HomePod mini and added it back, now im getting a new error:

Try it from your iPhone. When I tried to turn on Advanced Data Protection on my Mac I got a “could not complete” message as well… then tried it on my iPhone and we’re golden with all the updates. Weird

My architecture update went well. I did need this thread to tell me where to go to find the update. After updating everything to 16.2, I assumed there would a pop up or something to tell me about the architecture piece. I didn't think to go back to the updates section and check again.

Now to do some testing to see if things run better. I think the real test will be after a week or so....I always feel like things are better after an update, and then after a few days, things start going backwards again. Time will tell.....

Devices, HomePods (4 OG's and 1 Mini) and Home architecture updated without a hitch.

Different but related problem.

Now invites to my spouse for the home are not working.

Yes - they are on 16.2 & 13.1 for all their devices.

Similar to me, the app wouldn’t open the home until they removed the old homes as well.

So they did, and it still wouldn’t let them in.

They remove our current home and I re-invite them and the invite comes through, they accept and still nothing. Can’t see the home at all from their devices.

Ugh, this has not been a smooth transition at all, and we are Apple fanboys. I can’t imagine anyone critical of Apple trying to go through this process.

I have a lot of damn money sunk in HomeKit devices. ;)

No issue here. Updated all the needed accessories then updated the architecture.

Same issue for me, too :/

ah! yup, i have the same issue now with my wife, she cant see the home

geez this is messed up for some people, and i get/am happy for everyone who did not have issues

I updated my 2 HomePod minis, Apple TV 4K (3rd gen), iPhone 12 Pro Max, IPad Pro 11 (1st gen) and MacBook Air M1 (2020) and the tried to upgrade on my iPhone.

After 10 minutes of a spinning gear I killed the Home app and reopened and none of my devices worked. They all showed as “updating” or blank. I checked my iPad and it worked there, so I rebooted my iPhone and Home worked again, but the update never took as I still have the option to do it.

As far as I can tell everything is still working so I assume it didn’t actually start the update.

How long did the update take for those that got it to work? Did you have to do it on all your devices?

ok, i got my family back on, i had to go into their phones and update their “home” and then it seemed they were reinvited to the the main house. I had to go into each of their phones and accept the invitation and set up the main home under their accounts. they all seem to be back on and can switch between the “my house” and the main “home” just like before the update

lets see what else we notice tomorrow, LOL

I had this same problem earlier except I somehow removed them and even though they were invited they would accept and join momentarily before being deleted from the Home.

Ultimately, I had to go the Apple TV that was currently the active Hub and add them as users to that Apple TV.

Apple TV > Settings > Users and Accounts > Suggested Users or Add New User

Then, when I entered their Home apps they were reconfigured to our main Home. What a nightmare!

See above. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I think I have this figured out.

Apple Support recommended both of us log out and back in to iCloud (which is a bit of hassle) and to “Reset Network Setting” (which is a ton of hassle and only slightly less nuclear than a full phone wipe).

We tried both logging in and out of iCloud. That did not fix the problem - they still can’t see the home.

I don’t know if I want to go full reset network settings or wait and see if someone figures out another solution.

I hosed myself. I upgraded the architecture even though my wife’s devices weren’t ready. Figured I’d update her stuff after and it would be fine… NOT FINE. I can’t even share my home with her now… Not exactly release candidate with that kind of hard break…

That worked for me. Had to go around to all 5 Apple TVs in the house and log my wife back in lol.

I don’t think it helped. We have the same problem and we updated everything ahead of time - they still can’t access the home.

Mine has had every issue listed here so far. I finally thought I got it - it was saying inviting my wife to the home again was from an unknown sender. It was using my @icloud email address so I added that to her contact for me and it suddenly came up with a nice set of prompts to add the home, choose her settings, etc.

But then I looked at my home app for her used to promote her and she’s not listed…but still has access to the home. That’s kind of not good…

Whoa… that’s… bad. Kind of a big deal too. We lock and unlock our doors with it and pretty much have the whole home automated…

I did do the log out of Home app in iCloud settings, restarted phone and iPad and then reopened home and activated Home in iCloud again. That showed both my wife and my son in the Home app as residents.

I only have 3 TV's enabled for Hub use and I checked the active Hub and on a whim tried adding my son back. As soon as I added him back to Apple TV, I got the code on the TV to enter in his phone to join. Went to Home app on his phone and I was able to run through the initial settings (voice recognition, etc) and then our Home was in his app.

Did the same for my wife and it worked just the same.

Yeah, the amount of stuff I have tied into this ecosystem is going to make it challenging if I can’t get this straightened out.
