It's perfect and black, except for two nicks made when the GF put her keys in the same pocket for just one second.

I use the mono price bumper. Thinking of switching to the incipio or life proof case.

That's no excuse. Besides they can't be that old as its a very recent issue since the iPhone 5 hasn't been out that long. You could have just added to an existing thread and bumped it up. This is the problem with starting multiple threads on the same topic as people use the same lame reasoning for starting new ones.

What are you, the forum police?

Mine's in a case. I have no idea what it looks like. Nobody will ever see it out of it's case. No issue.

Did it come out of the box that way? Or did the wear marks slowly developed since you've had it?

No I had a 32 and then exchanged for a 64 and made sure my 64 was pristine because the same thing happened to my 32gb it came out of the box perfect.

Holding up great in my Speck Candyshell Grip!

I originally purchased the white iphone on launch day, but I then changed my mind and wanted Black instead.

I spent hours worrying about the dents, nicks and scuffs that in the end I decided that my "want" overtook my "worry" and Apple sent me a black one.

The Week 36 one I received has a little discolouration on the antenna band, you wouldn't see it. Rest of the phone was perfect but I sent it back anyway.

Week 39 black that I now own, is flawless!! and I much prefer the sleek , stealthy black to the white garish panda. Never going white again!

This made me laugh out loud

That's a nice iPhone case

since sept 21, no case, in my pocket with no abrasive contact and it's near perfect (one little nic in the chamfered edge).

My 4S got a hairline scratch pretty quick so I'm dealing with it just fine...my wife has the white with the BEAUTIFUL silver/straight aluminum and she abuses it and it is perfect!!

Mine's perfect with a Griffin Reveal case on. It has a small nick on it from when I dropped it, but that was entirely my fault and you have to really hunt for it to find it.

It was flawless out of the box (week 36, F2 Black 16GB AT&T).

Holy crap. I can't believe you guys hide such beauty away in cases and bumpers. Mines as good as the day I got it with no scuffs.
Just take a little care - pocket alone, not gritty surfaces, no contact with sharp metal surfaces.

My phone had a lot of scratches, week 39, I dropped it twice though :p but it came with some imperfections, the headphone jack was slanted and had a bit of discoloration, it was picked up just now and the TNT guy(who works in the apple returns department) said that there have been a lot of collections and returns for the iPhone 5, more than any apple product ever.

This sent chills down my spine.

Mine was perfect, but I had to exchange it. The new one I got is perfect as well, minus a tiny TINY little scratch above the volume buttons. I have had it in a case. I would love to have it go naked, but I am so nervous I'll drop it. I am so clumsy and thankfully the few times I dropped it, it was in an otterbox.

My original iPhone 5 came banged up on the corner but it didn't bother me. Had to replace it for a new one for other reasons and the new one is flawless.

I keep it in a minimalistic black bumper case with a clear plastic back and it's been great.

I do like the red lip on that black iPhone 5 with CandyShell.

As for mine, it's too new to tell (only had like two days).

Had little dings on the mirrored part of the silver band of the white iPhone.Brought it back when the wifi completely died on the 22nd of october my new one looks perfect, whereas the 3 dollar bumper I got from amazon is dirty(its white)but I don't really care its a phone, its bound to show wear after a while
