Without Intel your M1 Mac wouldn't have Thunderbolt ports. :p

If Intel can pull it off, Apple will be glad to become a customer of their foundry services just to reduce their dependency on TSMC.

Apple is actually a rather small customer for Intel now on both the client and server side.
It doesn't matter! Intel is the Radio Shack of chip producers! Falling hopelessly behind on chip technology because of bad management is the kiss of death!

ROFLMAO! The jokes just keep writing themselves...I have been off the internet for most of the day, so this truly is news.
It's not a joke. AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Apple and many others all depend entirely on TSMC today, which is now capacity limited. Not a good situation for anyone.

With all the issues the past few years with the intel fabs, why the hell would anyone want to use them.

Like i said: “if intel’s fabs were any good.”

And since AMD competes only with Intel, using the exact same fab as Intel is an advantage to AMD, which has much better designers than Intel.

There is only one chip manufacturer that's really ahead of Intel when it comes to leading edge processes for HPC. It's not so much that they are lagging, but that TSMC is ahead of everyone else. None of the other foundries are even trying to compete in this space anymore. If Intel's 7nm process stays on track, they will be competitive by the time the new fabs come online.

Intel plan to build fabs in Arizona... Isn’t Arizona out in the desert with no water?
Curious why build there if water is the main resource required and it’s scarce?
According to Gelsinger they already have 4 fabs in their Arizona location. Doesn't seem to be an issue.

The joke is that Intel still thinks they are in the Major Leagues when they’re not even good enough for a Double A team at this point. Crap process, bloated product portfolio, exorbitant prices for Enterprise CPUs. My animus extends to hoping that Intel doesn’t get a lifeline from any company and either digs themselves out of the ******** they put themselves in or dies a slow painful death as they deserve at this point. They squandered any goodwill I had for them a long time ago. Intel and NVIDIA are the scourge of the industry, IMHO.

Haha now Intel is saying, "If you can't beat them join them". Hello Intel IT'S OVER and Apple is done with your ass! Is Intel really this delusional? Apple is manufacturing their own chips. Why would they pay Intel to do so? Even if Apple would need manufacturing from outside sources they would never use Intel after that smear campaign against Apple. Intel is crazy! WTH are they smoking???

We've heard it all before (e.g. in the Netburst vs. Opteron era). But there's a reason why they have survived in this extremely competitive market for 50 years.

So, Apple would want to make their chips on Intel's 14 nm++++ process, instead of superior TSMC 3nm process? Are investor so oblivious that they believe everything now.

By the time Intel gets this up and running, Apple will be on 3nm or 2nm. They really think they can do that after going 14nm+++++ for how many years? They only just now went 10nm. AMD is more likely than Intel to do fab work for Apple at this point. Intel doesn’t actually think they’ll get Apple’s business, they just want to sound like they’re still relevant via name dropping. That’s why they have this new ad campaign. It’s a desperate viral marketing ploy. And even if they do somehow skip head multiple fab gens, it will be years and they need to sell PCs with Intel chips in the meantime.

Apple Silicon M1 on Intel’s cutting edge 14nm++++++ technology, Pat?! Pretty sure that will a hard pass from Apple. Maybe Qualcomm.

What do you mean? They have the most mature 14++++++++++nm process in the world.
I love how as the thread progresses, the 14nm process gains even more +

Hey Intel. It’s better for longer sighted business being truly innovative than trying to win customers with lie-ads. Take this complimentary advance to your heart.

no, TSMC manufactures the chips for Apple ... and it's a single source right now. It'a a business, and if Apple can get an advantage using Intel as a manufacturer in the future, they will

Business is business. If Intel can compete on price and die size, I'm sure Tim Apple would go for it to keep options alive in the supply chain.

GM is the corporation that gave us the Chevy Monza, the Cadillac Cimarron and Pontiac Aztek. I hope you were being sarcastic, but I can’t tell. If not, please go and stand in a corner.
None of which we had to endure in the UK, although we did have the risible Chevette, loathsome Cavalier and heinous Victor. Their Zafira was great if you love spontaneous fires. All award winning vehicles it seems :D
