Um, I did say 'headphones, or earbuds'. I had a really old Motorola behind the ear and around the neck set, and used them for a while. Until the bass made the damn things rumble so bad, they almost fell off my head. Bye bye, donated them away... But, I've used all kinds of headphones with things I have. Choose your poison...True in some cases. In others one can get perfectly adequate 3rd party b/t headphones for the price of earpods. (maybe not the best quality, but it can be done)

The old iPhone charger and cable will work. The new iPhones use lightning port just like the old ones. They might remove the charger from flagship phones. But I don't seem them removing it for budget phones -- as some people might actually need the charger.
Because you’re oblivious to the fact that iPhone shippings are massive? Anything that taken away from it will impact environment greatly. Did you ever look at how small iPhone 12 packaging is compared to 11? It’s like half a size. That’s already half a flights needed to move them.I'm sorry but if you don't understand how the argument of "hey, use your existing charger to be eco friendly, but also buy our new proprietry charging cable" is nonsense, there's no point continuing this discussion.
My point was, cost shouldn’t be a barrier to entry for any type of device that can connect to a phone.Um, I did say 'headphones, or earbuds'. The people who will buy MagSafe are a small subset of iPhone consumers as a whole.
Your argument boiled down to if Apple won’t give us a charger for free then they have no right to make (a better) one, which is ridiculous. It will hold if we have to buy a new MagSafe every time we buy a new iPhone which is simply not the case.
THAT you have a point. Indeed, I can’t find one.But there is no logical reason why the Magsafe connector should need a new power adapter to work properly?
Could you please explain why Apple chose to not let the new "better" cable work at full speed with any of the existing chargers in its lineup?
Your example suggests you are talking about electrocution. I am talking about fire hazards.Bad chargers _are_ dangerous. Remember they are plugged in the wall with anything from 110 to 240 Volt, so it’s obvious they can be dangerous. Imagine your lightning cable unexpectedly has 240 Volt between pins, that could kill you easily.
I was referring to Samsung’s budget phones that are targeted at a specific market. The old iPhone charger and cable will work. The new iPhones use lightning port just like the old ones.
The decision to not include a charger upsets me so much. If Apple cares so much about the damn environment, then skip shipping new phones for a year.
Seems like there’s an explanation after all.But there is no logical reason why the Magsafe connector should need a new power adapter to work properly?

Nothing forcing you to buy a new phone every year. Vote with your $$$.The decision to not include a charger upsets me so much. If Apple cares so much about the damn environment, then skip shipping new phones for a year.
