The 8000 was a creaky mess. I supported 1000s of them and they all creaked esp the battery cover.
I guess we're embarrassed by different things... I like my iPhone a lot but still miss my BlackBerry from time to time.... They had the best integration and smartphone experience up until the iPhone. Their always-on connectivity is something Apple built off of.... Jobs even described the iPhone's push email features as being "same as a BlackBerry"... they were the industry standard.

Agree they're no longer relevant but I have a soft spot for the huge contribution they made.

I think the main reason they lost relevance is the same reason they were successful... they defined their product around a particular set of users... primarily business folks. I know it was a huge help for me while on long trips/in taxis to have email integrated as well as it was... I appreciated their dedication to my user experience, and not cluttering it with unnecessary distractions.... I still miss my physical keyboard!

One more thing: Before the iPhone I contend that BB had the most beautiful smartphones.

Don't think there was anything close to that design/detail out there at the time.

For all of the haters... yeah, nobody cares about BBM

I'm really liking bbm! It needs some tweaks to the fonts and layouts in my opinion with better screen management but overall I already prefer to whatsapp.

It's amazing how no one has really taken advantage of how much people love chat applications with a picture of status update. That's all they want.

It's actually the opposite. Instead of releasing something and having your infrastructure burn down due to overwhelming demand, you see what the actual demand is, and increase your capacity accordingly.

no wonder their systems burnt when they released in one or two countries a few weeks back...

After 28 hours, I finally got the app to do something.

This app is _terrible_. Everything about it, layout, design, etc. But especially the fact that it shows the bbm contact I am talking to as being "blocked". If that wasn't enough then really after I sent him a picture attachment, that was THE END of the app working. Just crashes now. No way out, no way to delete it or reset the conversation in anyway. Just crashing.

They can't go out of business soon enough, IMHO.

Sounds like you're using a completely different app than anyone I know!

After updating to 7.0.3 BBM crashes for both my wife and I. Unusable.

Edit- Deleted and reinstalled. Works fine now.

Authorizing new accounts seem to be going pretty quick. Yeah you have to wait but reading these boards make it seem like people are waiting for hours (which I"m sure some may be experiencing). Most friends and family seem to be up and running and seems to work, haven't seen any bugs yet.

Also, not sure why people are complaining about the design/layout. Yeah, it's not skinned as an iOS 7 app but it isn't ugly, you might not prefer it but it definitely isn't ugly - people always looking for something to complain about.

Boy are you gonna regret that purchase. Not trying to flame, but I just can't see anyone going with a blackberry these days. It really is a horrible phone, running a horrible OS, with horrible apps. Why the heck would you go that route?
I highly doubt you gave it a chance if you feel that strongly against the new phones and BB10 OS. Depending on what you do, if you are actually using your phone for communicating (emails, text, etc), and if you have multiple things going on at the same time, you can do it a lot faster with the Blackberry. Keyboard is superior to iPhone (either touch or hardware), recent communications are made visible by a quick gesture, and switching apps can be done with a quick gesture. You don't have the constant press-home switch to something else when you are trying to do two things at once. Of course if you want a better 3rd party app experience you are better off with the iPhone.

Lame.

I only vowed by iMessage. And everyone in my closed encourage uses an iPhone - I exclude anyone who does not.

If you have an old Blackberry ID it should work straight away.

It ended up taking about an hour before I was given access. I saw all my old contacts, sent out a mass text to see if anyone was still there and nope, nada, nothin.

Oh well, bbm was fun while it lasted. I'm on the imessage train now that I can just reply to everything from my mac's. I never understood why they never made an OS client.

It's been over 2 days and I still haven't got the app to work on my iPhone 5. Does anyone have a quick fix?
