Already downloaded it and I'm super excited!! It works as expected so far. Just have to wait for my husband and the rest of my friends to get off of the waiting list. :)

I was going to jump into this thread and make some mean comment about how no one cares, but others beat me to it. :(

I don't care about you, but you still have a right to be around.

Not that I'm interested in this app, but for f...'s sake, some people do and the more options the better, right?

I don't know anyone with a BB anymore. About 4 years too late.
Maybe that is why six million people are pre-registered for the app. If you are not already on the list you have to get on the list wait until the six million are all up and running before you can use it,

I have to "wait in line" to use this? Ugh. Reminds me of Mailbox and Tempo....

That's pretty optimistic thinking from BB to think anyone will be lining up for this! Shouldn't be a problem.

edit: ok someone just said 6 million are pre-registered. I guess I'll just go ahead and eat my hat. Luckily as a happy iMessage and What's App user, my hat tastes like pancakes with maple syrup and ice-cream, so no harm done!

I don't have any problem with BlackBerry and I don't have a problem with this article. My comment was only a bit of fun. :)

What kind of statistic is this? It looks grossly inaccurate. Are these sales the week of an iphone/ipad launch? Cause thats what it looks like. Believe it or not, Blackberry still holds a large share in emerging markets.

Not.

For cross platform messaging I use Google Hangouts. I don't see what BBM could offer to make me change over.

Maybe some declaration of no NSA sharing, targeted marketing or data sharing.

Did you really just say you won't use BBM bc there's no guarantee of your privacy and IN THE SAME THOUGHT say that you use GOOGLE Hangouts? As in Google, the company that combs through EVERY BIT of your data and is merely an advertising company masquerading in a tech company's clothing, Google?

"Seriously...seriously?"

Just tried it with no luck.

Not for me. I downloaded the app at about 2pm MDT and still no e-mail :(

Thank you for checking . . .

I never received the email. I just tapped the button that said I already received the email.

It said "Congratulations" and let me sign in. :3

Seems others aren't having the same luck.

Were you previously registered on BBM.COM?

Apparently 6 million were and they gain instant access.

Everyone else - first come first served for queued email approval.

Boy are you gonna regret that purchase. Not trying to flame, but I just can't see anyone going with a blackberry these days. It really is a horrible phone, running a horrible OS, with horrible apps. Why the heck would you go that route?

I've got a Q10 and I would not describe the OS as horrible. It is no challenge iOS7. It certainly doesn't look good. But it functions very nicely and my phone works quite well. For some things it is clearly superior to my iPhone 5 (like forming a wifi hotspot, the Q10 does it like a champ and the phone doesn't get hot or lose contact with my laptop).

Downloaded a couple hours ago and I was previously registered with BBM.com. However, after trying everything but registering as a completely new user, I can't get past the "Setting up BBM" screen.

screen sharing not available in Android (can't confirm iOS yet) app.

so far all i can see is 1:1 chats. multiple people chats and groups.

in the groups: Chats, Pictures, Lists and events.

other than that. no additional features.

Oh well that's too bad. Screen sharing is kind of the killer feature. Though I can definitely see how it is a difficult one to achieve cross platform.

No he didn't. He said he might switch to BBM if they offered some features that Google doesn't offer.

iOS 6 app?

Anything not made for iOS 7 is pretty much a fail in my book. I'm almost to the point where I'll go through and purge all the ugly outdated apps on my devices.

Then it becomes less functional.

I don't like how iMessage replaces SMS. If I could opt-in to receive iMessages and to only send them when absolutely necessary (to iPad or iPod touch users), then I'd use it.

Actually no. It's not less functional than any other messaging service if you turn off "send as text"

Look at BBm. Supposedly you and your friend need an active BIS plan to ge the message through. Otherwise your message will be signed as pending, and over time it will be undelivered.

The iMessage took advantage by an integration to SMS. It will get through to any cellular number if one of the parties don't have a data plan. But luckily you may turn it off and it won't be anymore crippled than the others.

Im afraid its another example of BB missing another boat. All i think off when ppl mention BBM is the London riots. Lots of gangs were using BB to message and coordinate as its secure. The UK government hated it and wanted BBM shut down.

Most people I know have a blackberry. Everyone I know who has a work phone - it's a blackberry. All my younger family members have a blackberry. And since they're not so find of whatsapp for some reason, BBM will come in handy for me.

Downloaded about 4 hours ago and still no email. No idea what the wait is.
