yes i did on 5s and it feels a lot faster in my opinion. It just a bit slower then my iPhone 6s on 11.4 which is a big step in my oppinion. Also things like the Keyboard popping up are much faster and dont annoy anymore. I just fell like the app store app got a bit slower but I seriously dont mind @ all. And since its stil beta 1 im very Happy!

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. I have an old 5s and use a 6 for work so that makes me look forward to the update. I really like the 5s and use it as an iPod Touch so this will be most welcome.

As Bookemdano said, you're in the gripes of ennui. I know, French is my main language. Ennui can also means "I dunno what to do with my life" which is more deep that just being bored. Don't worry my friend, you'll find something that get your attention more than a day soon or later. It may be a wife, your first kid or a AI companion. But don't count on an OS to be fulfilled. Now let's talk about iOS 13 and 14.
[doublepost=1528262668][/doublepost]
I'm in a state of ennui

Don't be. I warn you all. True and profound ennui can get you to depression. A phrase with ennui goes like this "Je m'ennuie. Je ne sais pas quoi faire de moi ou de mon temps". I'm bored. I don't know what to do with myself or my time. Serious things here.

Find a quiet room, take deep breaths, calm your mind, and imagine you're a kid again. Think about the tech you had access to at that time. Maybe you had a CD player, and perhaps even a rudimentary digital camera. A Nintendo console. Dial-up internet, and maybe a PDA. And a big backpack to carry it all in (along with a box of spare batteries to get you through a day).

I doubt you had a device you could talk to that would understand you and execute your commands.

Now imagine your past self suddenly transported to today and handed a new iPhone with iOS 12. How would you react? Your jaw would hit the floor. You'd probably need to breathe into a bag for five minutes.

Let's face it. Technology hardly surprises us anymore, unless we reflect on how far we've come. The next big things will be fully self-driving cars and robots that clean our house and feed our pets. Give it another 10-15 years and we'll have those things too. Maybe Apple will even make some of them.

An iOS release isn't going to 'wow' anyone for long.

What it will do is add lots of nifty quality of life features that, periodically, will make you go 'ah, cool'.
Yeah not iOS 12 though. Boring. Memoji whoopeee

Lol, funny thread. Maybe OP should switch Android and customize their phone all day.

Nobody that visits this site (or any other rumours site) should be moaning about not being excited about this software or that hardware. It's not very often that something is announced that was completely unexpected. Most of the time things we think are going to be announced aren't and therefore bring us a little disappointment.

Even if the next iPhone changed everything and had all the features we hoped and more, we'd all probably be a little disappointed because of all the leaks we would have had in the run up to the announcement (plus a little sad that some random rumours weren't added too).

It's software, for a phone. What do you want it to do, prepare you a Michelin Star meal?

I don't know how one can be bored with a smartphone. Virtually unlimited TV, movies, music, podcasts. You can take a university course from your phone. Access to the sum total of human knowledge called the the internet. Many ways to interact with your fellow planet dwellers. Countless ways to create content. It's a boring mind that is bored. The phone or OS isn't the problem.

What's with everybody??

I'm not seeking entertainment

Being excited and being entertained are two different things

There's nothing wrong with expecting a new iOS to excite you
Does disagreeing with your simplistic, pre-set, demanding mindset mean that something is wrong with everyone else?

“Whats with everybody?” - you’re the minority here fam :/

How dare everyone not have the same opinion lol!

Why else would I spent over 1.000€ on a phone?
You’re spending it on the phone hardware. iOS12 is available on older devices, you dont need to spend €1000 to experience this OS

I don't know how else to excite myself....

I already want the next thing.

I remember when I got iPhone X on launch day, 2 days later, I was already bored.

Is that a millennial thing?

Things don't seem to excite me for longer than 48 hours, in some cases, 10 minutes....
You have nothing to worry about as you have a longer attention span than some millennial I know.

Of course it's not a millennial thing. Nobody's life is made complete by a new phone, or any other consumer device. You're a human being. If you're looking for happiness in purchases, you'll never find it. (There's actually a book about this called Affluenza.)

What's arguably millennial is that you're surprised. The bottom line is that buying things won't give your life meaning. Human beings adapt to what we have, so the new big, exciting thing quickly becomes the old, boring normal thing. (Think back on all the things you own, and how you were excited to get them, and how they've become normal now.)

Happiness and fulfilment are found elsewhere, and that's a very valuable lesson.

Why am I not surprised that Apple is being defended to the hilt over this? Yes, an operating system isn't meant to excite you but come on, all iPhones have looked EXACTLY THE SAME for a decade now with one small change to the icons in 2013 - 5 YEARS AGO. Android users can customise absolutely everything about how their phone works, feels, and looks. Apple still don't let you change the shape of the icons FFS!

That's one of the differences between iOS and Android.

It does irritate me that while the iPhone screen gets bigger and bigger, we're still limited to a 4-column home screen and dock. I'd like at least a 5-column home screen and dock. The problem is more apparent on the iPad, where you can drive a truck between the icons.

If you don't like the way iOS performs and what Apple lets you do, switch to Android. There are many phones for you to choose from there. You'll likely be happier.

Has getting a new gadget ever been different? I’m pretty sure the novelty has always worn off, if not in a couple of days then certainly within a week of peeling back the plastic...

I did switch to Android last year, which you clearly missed in my last post. I still have an iPad though and I'm so unspeakably bored of how it looks and operates. Of course an OS should offer some excitement otherwise what's the point of making truly marked improvements? Otherwise we'd still be using Windows 98!

Have you ever wondered why there's so much news about Android malware and barely anything infecting iOS?

Do you feel excited everyday about driving in your car to work or logging into your laptop the way you did the first time? Of course NOT. That's how we are wired. Also one of the main focus of iOS 12 is to get people like you off the phone with the screen times. So, good luck with that.

Some things like group notifications and Siri shortcuts are nice. And I will never use MeMoji. But this isn’t earth shattering. If Apple released this as 11.5. I’d be just as good with that.

Why does it matter whether Apple called this iOS 12 or 11.5? Why do people get so hung up about that?

How often are you staring at the OS? When I’m on my devices I’m in apps not staring at the home screen.
