Well, the price thing is another issue. Do people realize it is pretty much the same price as an iPhone 8 Plus? Guess I need to look into those functions to eliminate the noise.
It’s only similar in price if you compare the base model X with the largest capacity 8 Plus. Like for like there is nearly £357 ($468) difference where I live. That’s not really a fair comparison is it? You’re comparing products of totally different storage tiers to draw a similarity.Well, the price thing is another issue. Never mind. I’m half asleep. Deleted my post lolIt’s only similar in price if you compare the base model X with the largest capacity 8 Plus. There’s a reason why you can walk into any phone shop and the highest tier Plus model is always in stock. It sells the least due to its price.
Or were you not comparing a 256GB 8 Plus with a 64GB X??
You are right, maybe not fair, my point is, these phones are all very expensive compared to the $199 first iPhone. People b!tching about the X being obnoxiously expensive vs. $899 or something in that ballpark for the next model down doesn't add up. $899 is OK but $1150 is not? People saying "$899 is where I draw the line" LOL.It’s only similar in price if you compare the base model X with the largest capacity 8 Plus. I agree, and I think that's one reason why its so successful.Removal of Touch-ID and the intrusion of Face-ID sealed the iPhone X's fate. Wouldn't you agree?
Perhaps its different in your location, but I choose the base model of the iPhone 8, its 700, if I choose the base model of the X, its 1,000 - that's a three hundred dollar difference. To me that's not "pretty much the same price".Do people realize it is pretty much the same price as an

I said Plus and I am from Boston.I agree, and I think that's one reason why its so successful.

Fair enough, but even the 8 plus is priced at 800, so we're still talking about a 200 dollar difference and to me that's just a significant amount of $$I said Plus and I am from Boston.
The upgrade program here in the UK is still silly money though. It’s over £50 a month before you even add a SIM card. Compare that to the average contract which is £30p/m and you’ve nearly doubled it.I think price is a different factor for each person for example someone who is on the Apple upgrade programme may think that paying a monthly cost is better for them, someone who has a monthly contract with a network (like Vodaphone, EE and so on) may also find that better. Personally i prefer to buy my phone's outright and put a Pay As you Go sim card in, there are different methods for different people.

And to me when you are spending stupid money($800+) on discretionary things that you really don't need to get through life, what's another $200? A nice dinner with the wife?Fair enough, but even the 8 plus is priced at 800, so we're still talking about a 200 dollar difference and to me that's just a significant amount of $$
Yeah, I was just referencing another post where they said it was $199. I can't even remember what I paid for my first iPhone, which I believe was the iPhone 4.NO ORIGINAL $199 iPHONE. 🙄
WAS $499 or more b4 SJ discounted for a while to pump sales. the $199 only thru AT&T / carrier subsidies for years b4 those stopped.
Not for nothing, but isn't the pre-order always problematic. I remember seeing many issues last year for the 7, and that had really no major changes from the 6.The proof is well & truly in the pudding; pre-order took a huge hit and it took me 12 mins to secure one

I looked into it myself but I would literally be paying twice as much as I pay a month now just to have the option to upgrade after 12 months. If I was inclined to do this, it is cheaper to have a 24 month O2 contract and pay off the difference after 12 months. O2 give you a 25% discount if you wish to pay off early. I’m not interested in getting a new phone every year though and to me it’s just throwing money away for little benefit.

I'm not saying the X is a flop, no I think quite the opposite, I think many people were waiting for that over the 8. Yet I'm not sure the issues with apple's ordering system is evidense of its success.
Your correct, I remember last years pre-orders for the 7 Plus and it wasn’t easy I eventually got one with the same delivery timeframe as I did with this years iPhone X (ie 2-3 weeks).
I think that if the demand is as they said “off the charts” Apple will end up removing the 8 and 8 Plus style devices and go with the new design for the future, I don’t mean they will do it straight away but I think it could happen next year or the year after
I bet the phone will show very quickly on the refurb store, for those looking to save money and still belong to the X club. 😉The iPhone X looks great, I won't pay that much for a phone, I just can't get myself to do that, I don't understand all the negativity though, man people are really worked up over a phone.
They release the different models to try and garner as wide a consumer base as possible. They will definitely be moving all of their devices to X technology (edge to edge, no home button, face ID etc.). It still puzzles me why they launched the "iPhone 8" which is essentially an iPhone 7"s". Too many models that are all pretty much the same. The home button will be like the mechanical wheel on the first iPod😉
