I believe most financial analyst agree that the 8 is going t be the last iteration of iPhones to use the thumb print home button. I so expect Samsung to follow as well.

Not for nothing, but isn't the pre-order always problematic. I remember seeing many issues last year for the 7, and that had really no major changes from the 6.

I'm not saying the X is a flop, no I think quite the opposite, I think many people were waiting for that over the 8. Yet I'm not sure the issues with apple's ordering system is evidense of its success.

Tbh the X pre-order bottleneck was a first for me; I don’t recall a similar experience with the 7+ however strangely enough I had the same delivery timeline of 2-3wks.

I agree that the various affordable payment options on offer made the X a preferred upgrade as Dave245 mentioned. On the real bottom line success front , it will be revealed in time🙂

I think that if the demand is as they said “off the charts” Apple will end up removing the 8 and 8 Plus style devices and go with the new design for the future, I don’t mean they will do it straight away but I think it could happen next year or the year after.
Do you think Apple will just go with a premium option in the future and abolish the sub £1000 option then? I keep seeing this suggested and I can’t get my head around the reasoning.

This suggestion pre orders are ‘off the charts’ to me sounds like a false statement if it suggests quantity. I think it’s perhaps the fact the X sold out so quickly, but then with short supplies it’s difficult to gage. Apple are also keen to give the impression demand is huge in order to enhance the demand if that makes sense? They’ve always done that initially.

I still think the price is too high for them to solely focus on it. Only offering an X price tier would basically slash far too much of their user base. The iPhone is owned by so many different demographics and that is down to it being just about affordable to many. This romance a lot of rich people seem to have with the iPhone being just aimed at them has been false up until now. I hope it doesn’t become a reality.

There are rumours Apple are working on a 6.4” iPhone X for next year, whether that sits alongside the 5.8” iPhone X I don’t know.

Apple have the SE as their entry level phone that is affordable, the 8 and 8 Plus style designs will begin to get and feel old when out next to the iPhone X and (possibly) a new X Plus next year, in which case they might take away the 8 and 8 Plus, drop the price of the X and then the higher price is reserved for the iPhone X Plus just like the 8 Plus is the most expensive (before the X comes out).
