Got mine Friday so ivebeen through several discharge/recharge cycles.

Just plugged in,

14 hr 28 mins usage
20 hr 54 min standby

24% left

Pretty much only Safari and some cards games so it looks really good. I'm sure it would be a lot less if I had played any video or more intensive games.

All in all pretty much on par with my Air 1.

what brightness setting?

Solid 12 hours.

I'm finding battery life is identical to my first-gen Air. Brightness around 35-40%, nothing too intensive.

Thank god there is no "batterygate" thread yet. Anyway, the air 2 can't be as bad as the retina mini, I mean... I get around 6 hours of usage.

Sounds like most people are getting better battery life than me. I'm getting about 7 hours usage time after a few discharge cycles. I'm using the typical battery saving tips, and it's set up the same as my Air 1, but I'm getting about 5 hours less usage time compared to my Air 1. I'll keep an eye on it, but I suppose I'll exchange if I don't see it closer to 10 hours usage time. The screen is so spot on that I'd hate to have to exchange for the battery.

Deal breaker? The battery in this thing is unreal.....I'm at 19 hours and 27 mins usage...3 days 3 hours standby and have 11% left.... I'm trying to kill the battery so I can do the full charge tonight. Got mine Monday and haven't charged it since.... This is crazy!

Retina mini bad?! Those two iPads have given me the best battery life of any device nearly ever.... iPad Air 2 is about to go over 20 hours of usage and my rMini averages around 12-15 hours of usage, and I've had that around a year now.

Clearly something wrong :(
I have cycled through 3 charges now and getting 13 + hours.
It is on a par with my iPad Air.
Mega happy :)

Just for reference, this is my iPad Air 1. I typically get 13-14 hours...screen brightness is usually set to Auto and stays at 30-40% indoors.

If you Air 2 owners are getting 13 hours, that's fantastic actually. Most of the complaints are people that can't get past 10 hours.

Here is my second complete discharge...

Image

Brightness at 33% the entire time.

Holy crap, you need a hobby. Other than that game.

I haven't charged mine since Sunday morning.

Yes you have. It says it's been plugged in.

Mine are always set to auto :)
Can't be bothered to adjust it and my iPad is doing it for me perfectly :)

That's not what he saying. Even if you have it on auto the brightness is still at a specific brightness setting. If you are using it in a bright room it might be 65%. A dark room maybe 35%. Each will impact the battery very differently.

Obviously something is off here? Had it sleeping for a few hours yet it came back as usage?

I run my cellular iPad pretty hard. The standby usage includes the actual usage, so I had the iPad off a charger for just under 12 hours. Half the time was on cellular. I used the Instant Hotspot for about 20 minutes for my MacBook, which surprisingly only took up 1%. Screen brightness around 50-60%. Bluetooth and wifi on the whole time.

With the 1st full charge I got 14 hrs with 33% brightness. Stand by time 3 days 6 hours. Not bad I think.

Well I'm on my second Air 2 and gave only given it to one full charge while it was restoring. I still had battery issues, presumably something carried over with the back up, so I did a reset all settings. Since then I have been using this for short bursts at a time while testing battery and performance and sticking with my mini as my main iPad. This is the Air 2 this morning. Battery life is much improved, the usage figure was at 1d 5h when I did the reset.

I never restore from backup. Too many [potential] issues.

I know. lol I only played until midnight last night. ;)

I think the real issue is that the AIR 2 is closer to the stated battery life of 10 hours. Previous iPads always were 3 - 4 hours more.

Honestly 10 Hours is fine.

If I get 10+ hours I'll be happy. Before I was only getting 8 hours with non demanding tasks but this one is looking better.

battery sucks

The battery sucks, I have had three charges, and I do not play games or watching video, most time I read books on it, and I can only get 7 hours battery life, my brightness is around 70%. My old iPad 2 can get 12hours...the new one battery really sucks!!! Anyone know if the battery of iPad Air great? I am thinking return Air 2 to get an Air.
