Did it get any better? What is your brightness at?

I'm getting around 6-7 hours usage playing Clash of clans.

Brightness 80% - 6 hours
Brightness 50% - 7 hours

Can't say i'm pleased, i would be if it lasted me 10 hours.

I'll take it off full charge in the morning and play as much as I can and post the results...

Really satisfied with my air 2 64gb (ios 8.1.1 jailbroken) brightness around 35~40%

My battery on my air 2 is as good or better than my iPad 3. Auto brightness, (lte wifi and Bluetooth on)

After a few more cycles (close to 10), I'm easily getting 13 hours w/browsing, music, and a bit of gaming. Brightness static at about 40%.

Well I'm forecast to get 8 hours of use at 30% backlight with normal web use over wifi. I'm not kidding you there! That is markedly poorer than the Air 1 I had.

So.... the Ai2 2 is thinner and has a smaller battery. No surprise here. My Air 2 get way better battery performance that I expected, but slightly less than my Air 1.

That would NEVER be a deal breaker for me and we relaced both of our Air units with new Air 2 and are happy.

I did return and get as new Air 2 and the battery life is much improved. Much closer to the Air 1 although anything graphically intensive does hammer battery life.

The battery is fine, people are crying about 10+ hour battery use? Wow

It's pretty damn hard to kill the battery of this thing in one day unless you're streaming multiple movies over LTE or something

I had over 10 hours of use 29% video watching, 14% game playing as well and about 2 days standby time and still had 35% battery life left. Battery life on the air 2 is a non-issue for me. It will vary from chip to chip however. Some a8x chips are probably better than others...certain batches might get less than ideal battery life, and other batches might get slightly better battery life. It's kind of the luck of the draw thing, but worse case scenario of 10 hours is not bad at all.

There has to be something wrong with mine.

After a full charge, brightness close to 100%, 2 hours of use, (xcom, surfing and checking emails) I was at 39%.

Full brightness will crush the battery. Try to use indoors or in a shaded area.

Have a launch day Air 2 with quite a good bit of cycles on the battery now so it should be broken in.

Set the brightness at 50%, and did single tab browsing (no videos, just web pages) and facebook only, making sure to close whichever of the two apps I wasn't using.

I failed to get a screenshot at 1% but I was at just over 9 hours usage with 4 days and 17 hours of standby.

So I guess without the long standby I'd be getting right at the advertised 10 hours. So I guess I can't complain, but it definitely doesn't touch my iPad 4 battery performance.

You should stick with yours. Battery life decreases due to slimmer and more powerful units from lifecycle to lifecycle. It will stay like this for some more gemerations I think.

Thank god there is no "batterygate" thread yet. Anyway, the air 2 can't be as bad as the retina mini, I mean... I get around 6 hours of usage.

Really? I always charge my rMini at 70% and when I'm at 70, I'll have at the very least 4 hours of usage! Under heavy usage I seem to get at least 1 hour and 10 mins per 10 percent used.

I'm at 94% with 1 hour and 7 mins usage so far today. And I'm using it heavily today

Huh?

Don't go with the forecast, go with the actual battery life you get between charges.

"Open" apps dont affect battery, you actually get worse battery life if you are closing them on a regular basis.

Air 2's GPU is faster with more cores. So when we play a game which utilises all the GPU cores, battery drains like crazy.

iPad Air 2 should have been of same thickness and battery size as iPad Air 1.:(

I have both the rMini 1 and the iPad Air 2. I used the same apps for 2 weeks to make the best comparison possible.

While the Air 2 scored an average of 14-15 hours of battery life, my rMini achieved around 12 hours average.

Brightness at 30%. Used apps; PDF Expert, Safari, Alien Blue . I used used them the same amount of time in relation to each other.

I can't see how people would say the rMini has a better battery life and also how they can't reach 7 hours with similar apps then mine. Send your iPad back, because then something must be wrong.

Not that bad not that great. My mini 2 would have lasted two hours more or so i suspect.

Also, when i was at 9% i let it in standby and when i came back after a few hours it was at 4% with no wifi or background apps running. Weird.
