Best Buy's holiday return period began on Nov. 3, and I bought Air on Nov. 2. There's nothing wrong with it, but that extended return window would be nice. I'm an elite plus member, so I have 45 days. :D

I really hope this tablet works out for you. :)

Looking back I felt my ipad 3 was too cold compared to my ipad 2, now my new ipad Air has the warmer slightly yellow cast more on left than right. I kept my ipad 2 and grew to love it, most likely going to do the same with my Air.

So yeah it is me, I am SUPER sensitive to things like sound, color, brightness... LOL. But like a said back last year, Apple could save a bunch of returns by giving us some color controls, could you imagine not having brightness control?

Everyone see's color a little different, some enjoy warm screens and some cold screens, so color controls would really be a nice addition.

But I wouldn't be so hard on some people here calling them OCD, clearly the issue is worse on some iPads. I saw one at the store that was so clearly yellow on the left you would have hard time not noticing it and enjoying your iPad.

I finally won the screen lottery tonight after 4 tries. The first 3 had an overall yellow hue to the screen. This one is bright white with no flaws that I can see. Against my better judgement I made a decision to go to a different Apple store and try one more time after work this evening. Of course no one at the Apple store had heard about this problem. I hope everyone here is able to get a screen that they are happy with.

What are the 1st 4 letters of your serial number? I bet it's not DMPL.

Do me a favor? Could you take a white screen photo of your ipad with full brightness in a pitch black room? Want to see what a perfect screen looks like.

I took a picture with my iPhone. How do I get it on here?

Attach the image in the reply box like you would on a computer. It will bring up the option to take a picture or select from camera roll

This is the best I could get. In the photo it looks like pink and yellow in areas, but I only see white when I look at the screen.

Mine has gotten so bad I think you can tell from this picture. Look how clean/white the right side looks in comparison. It really is a problem for me since I need color accuracy for my main ipad use. Apple store saw it too though so just gotta have fingers crossed my replacement is accurate.

Here is mine.

I've said it a hundred times, and it's been proven a hundred more; there is no more correlation between factory codes and screen quality than there is between your IMEI number and the population of Cleveland.

There are good screens and bad screens, coming out of every factory. You can't pinpoint it by production date, factory code, etc. It's called the screen lottery for a very good reason.

Looks decent.

Looks good :D

Went to the Apple store today and after comparing all of the display models I'm beginning to think the left side shadow bar effect is normal. Perhaps a side effect of Apple moving to one backlight bar. The intensity of the issue tends to vary from unit to unit though.

I don't see any left side shadow on mine. Even the 3 yellow hued screens had no shadows, gradients or light bleeds, they were just slightly yellow tinted and not as bright as this screen. This screen has a white strip over the chamfered edge at the top that extends about 1/2 inch over the back like the demos have. I asked about this and was told they all have it. I don't remember seeing this on any of the first 3 and it isn't in the picture on the Apple site. I told them maybe it was meant to be a demo and that's why the screen looked good and they assured me that wasn't the case. They all stick to the company line but everyone one in the store has been pleasant about the returns and they seem to want you to be satisfied with the product. I've always had good experiences with the staff at Apple.

Are you talking about the white plastic antenna cover in a silver ipad?

This is what my screen looks like. Would you exchange it?

Please don't ask other people if you should return an ipad based on their opinion of your photo. That's like asking other people if you should like a movie you just saw. Does it look ok to you?

I'm not asking if I should return it. I'm asking if that's the screen you got, would you return it. Notice the wording on my original question.

Both of my returned units had the shadow bar. If the third one has it I'll probably live with it. I sold my iPad 4, I haven't any other options.

Fine. Given the apparent disparity in brightness and color between the bottom left corner and the rest of the screen, I would have returned it. But cameras are less forgiving than our eyes.

Are you talking about the white plastic antenna co.

Maybe - I do have the silver one. I just don't remember seeing it on the other 3 iPad Airs that I had. I put them in a case right away so maybe I just missed it. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Yea the photo kind of exaggerate the problem. It is milder than that. I would love to have a perfect screen and I do notice the problem, but it's not unbearable. I want to have it exchanged but my only concern is I don't want to end up with a screen that's worse than what I have now. :(

This pic of my screen at 100% brightness might work...... And it did! That's my whitest page, and taken from a screen shot in a completely dark room.

That looks really minor to me.. I personally wouldn't return it.. but it really depends on if it is distracting in normal usage. Based on that picture, I personally wouldn't be bothered... my iPad 3 which I've been using for 18+ months probably looks similar.

I'm in the same boat, would love a better screen thats a little less yellow, but mine looks like yours, and I have seen way worse. Also the yellow may get slightly less over time, not completely but somewhat less....especially if its the phosphor that turns the blue LED's produce white light.

Question, is that picture at full brightness? At full brightness on mine the yellow just about disappears.
