Blueish? Really, I am blind then... It looks pinkish to me!
Here is mine at 100% brightness:
Hi I just recived my new 32gb Ipad air and I noticed that the screen is washed somehow out, I mean the colours. I compared it to my laptop. And here is result both devices max brightness:

And here is picture of white screen max brightness.

I don´t see any yellow places or something like that, maybe shadows (grey lines on the siden with white picture), but the screen has some strange color saturation or something like that.
What do you think I have 14 days..
Would that not be a smart cover issue?Got a replacement with a decent screen only to go home and attach my smart cover and find it leaving about a centimeter of the screen showing, and the cover overhanging on the other side, I guess back to the Apple Store I go for my 3rd.
Would that not be a smart cover issue?
Unless it was fine on your previous Air?
Might be worth asking to try another Smart Cover before switching out the iPad.
No, it was fine on my last Air. Has to be the iPad.
So you are saying your iPad Air is the wrong size??? Are you using the latest Air Smart Cover? Not the old smart cover, yeah? Sorry to ask, but this just sounds like the most bizarre problem.
I can't imagine how the iPad Air could physically be a different size. Can you post photos please? I'd love to see this.
The issue is the magnets in the iPad for the cover aren't aligned right. There actually is a post on the forum about it, others are having the same issue, I thought they were nuts too until I got stuck with one with the issue. I've never had this much bad luck with apple in my life.
I have the exact same issue on mine. Very odd. Not a deal breaker for me, but still odd nonetheless.
Ordered two from staples. Both with DMPL serial numbers (very close. Probably same batch and hour of production so I don't know if supplier has much to do with it)
White 32 gb air with verizon Lte.
See the difference for yourself.
Tested in dark room with brightness at zero. Both facing the same way. I believe the best way to test it is at minimum brightness since brightness hides the issue.
Amazing there is such a big difference. One is much cooler, and don't see a shadow. It's not perfect. I see some very minor warm spots, but it is the best I have seen.
They are out there people.
Btw. I went to two different apple stores. Only 1/4 have this good screen. Consistently at both stores. I went through 3 iPad airs. This is my third one with the good screen.
Screens. Leaned with mf cloth. No settings played with. iPhone 5 camera.
And yes. Absolutely sure both are at min brightness. Unbelievable right?
My personal guess is that it is the glass used for the screen that causes the tinge. The shadow I'm not sure.
Something interesting I found: even the white border on the front has different tinges. Oddly enough, the bad screen with the yellow and dark shadow has a cleaner brighter white, while the good screen on bottom has a white border with a yellower tinge.
The top screen also seems to show some details better, such as the wood wallpapers (you see wood grain details better) but it is not as bright and colors are not as bight. So weird.

I'm sorry to hear about that. Do you have any store close to you with a decent returns policy? That seems to be the best strategy while trying to purchase an Air these days... That way you can always bring it in and get a replacement. About the refurbished one... You may actually be lucky! I think that by now all the launch returns with faulty screens must have had screen replacements, so maybe you'll get a good one.
I really don't know what exactly to do next... Wether to try again or hold off the air and plunge into an Xperia Tablet Z. I saw one yesterday and it's quite a great device but I have a lot of money invested in iPad apps some of which I can't run on my iPhone.
I find it unbelievable how one of Apple's biggest screw-ups of the last few years is going completely unnoticed by the media. The reviewers must be getting hand-picked devices!
Thanks for the reply.
Well I purchased 10+ Apps on iPad, and more than 50+ on iPhone, same thing left here.
I don't know the quality of refurbished ones. As I can tell from some guy I know who works in genius bar, apple doesn't recognize this screen problem as a quality issue(as long as no bad pixels, no ash/glue left in the front), they exchange iPads for you just to provide a better after service. So, I think those iPads might just go back-check-repack, then sell as refurbished or as replacement for "over-14-day" users... Keep replace or get a kindle, gotta choose.
BTW, is there anyone who got a refurbished one? How's the screen, please?
Well, unfortunately, after a day or two, I have discovered that the bottom unit actually does have the book spine shadow, but oddly roughly 2 inches right of the left edge. You can see it if you look at an angle.
Not only that, but I have noticed the screen become progressively yellower on the left side. It got worse after the first charge.
sounds very good! What are the first 5 letters of your serial number? Thx
wait, you are returning the ipad because the smart cover doesn't fit?

I'll keep it for another couple of days, and see how it goes.
Yes, that is the same iPad. It's almost as if the problem gets worse with use.

Here is a picture of mine in a dark room ( ) What do people think?
