How do you test refresh rate interlacing?

When I scroll down/up on a certain page with animated gifs, there is a black shadow persisting around those gifs for a second on mine. Is that the problem?

----------

how do you check the manufacture date?

The interlacing is really obvious to me. It's like vertical running bands on the display. There's loads of topics about that on these forums, including a wallpaper which you can use to test it.
But don't go looking for it if you can't see it.

For the manufacture date, this is the link http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

Just pop your serial number in there and it'll tell you the manufacture date.

My screen is a little darker and more yellow on the left side. There is also horrible light leak. Should I keep it or try to exchange? I can't simply return it, bought through reseller in Europe. Must go through service procedure.

Depends if you can tolerate it. But consider that it is a flawed display, so you just bought a defective unit.

in the youtube video he says its not laminated, and i have noticed that the ipad screen glass can be pressed in.

So u agree with my post then. The two pieces are not bonded/laminated/glued together. Yes, the video shows and mentions this.

Thanks!

I'm DMPL Week 46 (November)
White 32GB Verizon LTE.

Slightly yellow on the left side. Very minor shadow one inch out from left edge when viewed from certain angles. Yellow disappears when I tilt the ipad top away from me (i.e. when I view it at a more obtuse angle [plane of ipad and line of eyesite plane]).

sometimes I don't notice anything, but sometimes it drives me crazy. It is much better than the first two ipads I went through.

What's the earliest production week for the ipad air?

My launch day one was manufactured in October but I don't remember which week.

My 4th iPad air has an excellent screen. It is production week 37 (September) from Foxconn. It was purchased from the Apple store.

I was wondering.... How many people have kept their yellow tint on one side Air for more than a few days? My first Air was bough on launch day, and the second was bought on Thanksgiving weekend. Both had a bit of yellow tint on the left land side, and both got better with use. The pic in this post is the second Air, and it was noticeably more yellow than the first.....at first.

Edit: 50% brightness! dark-ish room, and a rainbow effect from screen protector.

Several hours every day, 50% brightness or less. Any brighter is just too bright.

Ok, that's a lot. I think, users with the yellow tint didn't use their iPad so long. But with your experience, this could change.

At the moment it's still a lottery with the "good" screens, so perhaps some will try ist (i will)...

Thx for your information

Others have reported their screens becoming less yellow over time, but that's often met with, "You're just getting used to it." I'm obsessive enough to flip the screen around without knowing which side is which every once in a while, and while there is the most minimum of yellow tint on the left side, it's been reduced tremendously, and often can't be seen at all.

I tend to agree. The reason why people will come up with excuse after excuse NOT to post their own "perfect" screen is because it'll be apparent that it's NOT perfect to the folks that are hyper observant (I'll stop short of saying OCD THIS time, but generally it's what it is =P).

Post a pic, split keyboard, with your username here on MR typed on the screen.

When I see a "perfect" one like that I'll believe they exist.

Otherwise, I tend to believe 100% have it, and there are people who simply don't notice it as much as others. Just like being colorblind, perhaps some people can identify the yellow more than others. Doesn't mean it's not there, just that the effect bothers some more than others. Mine has it too, and it doesn't bug me at all unless I am actively looking for it. Were it NOT for the internet I would have never identified the "problem", nor would 99% of the rest of the user base.

I'm not going to give Apple a high five over it, but I don't blame them either, especially when the VAST majority of folks just won't notice/care.

But ya... you don't have a perfect one. Maybe you don't care that I don't believe you do, but I don't. It's not hard to post a picture, especially with all your fancy iDevices :D

My first Air was noticeably yellow on one side. I searched about the issue on the internet because the problem was obviously noticeable and annoying (not the other way around). I swapped it and the replacement is good enough that there is no noticeable issue to my eyes.
You believe what you want but after one swap I now have a problem-free Air.
I am not going to post any picture so that you can tell me there is a colour/luminosity shift when you increase saturation and contrast by 90% with photoshop. That's not the way I use my iPad.
Bottom line is that much of what you are stating/believing is not consistent with my (and I presume many others) experience.
So that you know...

Not sure how one pic backs up your claim. Ideally you would have taken a picture when you got it, then another a couple of weeks later, with the same camera, from the same angle, same exposure, same content on the screen, etc.

you just try to stretch the keyboard to the sides with your 2 fingers at the same time and it splits:)

My second Air has this problem, yellowish tint on the left hand side, but the more I use, the less I see it. It's a brilliant iPad.

If it gets annoying enough, Apple Care will take care of it:)

How do you get that split screen effect (thick white band) in the middle of the keyboard?

Press two keys on each side of the keyboard (G with left thumb, and H with right, for example) and pull the keyboard to the sides. That's the split keyboard.

For everyone doing tests, let's please make this as consistent as possible. Since brightness masks the problem, and there is no way to get precisely a certain percentage of brightness, take all your pics at MINIMUM brightness in a dark room with auto off.

Also bring up a split keyboard since that helps tests both sides of the screen.

Notes, mail, etc. are all fine apps; althought a white test image would be best.
