All about the lighting under the LCD
The right side is always going to be brighter then the left. The bottom edge is brighter than the rest.
According to what source? Are you telling me that ipads are edge-lit only on the right side?

Guys who say "just enjoy it, no screen is perfect":
Look, I don't care if I have a "perfect" screen or not. I don't need one that is within very specific and precise parameters regarding quantified output metrics.
What I do need, however, is a screen that is not TWO DIFFERENT COLORS. Preferably on the whiter end, but I would even accept a slightly "warmer" tone as long as it is even.
When one side of my keyboard is even the slightest bit yellow, that is a problem if the other side is white.
If you have a dark shadow on the left edge of your screen, that is a DEFECT.
Apple markets the Retina Display as one the best viewing experiences around. There is no point in having a high pixel density and no pixelation if your screen has different tints across it.
People not only use their ipads for fun, but for work too. It is unacceptable to have this problem.
It is a design/manufacturing defect. End of story. My Nexus 7 didn't have this problem, nor does my macbook pro 17. I had ONE ipad 3 with a perfect screen, and since then, I've seen 4-5 bad ones with this tinting problem.
Apple needs to find a better upstream supplier, or fix their own internal problems. I personally believe it to be a glass issue, as my tint seems to come and go depending on the angle I view it at. It is like the effect you get with a polarized lens. Some angles make it darker, and some more clear.
Can you guys with the problem see if you can make the problem better/worse by viewing at different angles? Try very acute, to very obtuse viewing angles and see if it gets whiter/yellower.
If we can narrow down the problem, and make enough noise, maybe Apple can finally nip this in the bud.
