Yes, I wish Amazon had the same music that you can get on Apple music. They only have the 2nd string artists. /s

Plus I'm using Dots. The Dot in my office is hooked up to my Surround sound system which kills anything Apple makes, the one in the kitchen is hooked up to a small bluetooth speaker since my wife only listens to background music there. The one in my bedroom uses its own speaker because I just use it to turn on lights, my TV and to ask questions.

Imagine having options. The horror, the horror.
Dude. I’ve been running multi room audio through AirPlay since the early aughts. We already have options.

Agreed. I'd say AP2 is being swept up in the iOS 12 lockdown mantra. As the main iOS 11 feature I've been looking forward to since WDC'17 I'd still rather them get it right before releasing it. I can't take another cockup this year from my beloved.

I agree they are buckling, but what I am unable to put my finger on is the root cause. Not enough resources\too little time? Lack of talent\bad management? Seems the answer to both those causes is no. So I am left scratching my head as to what is the root cause of this quality issue.

Exponential growth of permutations of possible interactions in software/hardware, while the software development tools largely remain the same ****** text editors as 40 years ago. Software engineers simply can’t manage this level of complexity using the tools we have today. Certain types of software states and bugs should be impossible to represent, but our text editors make them possible like it’s 1970.

Every so often often I peruse the Macrumors forum, just to get a kick out of people freaking out over something Apple did or did not do. You all act like Airplay 2 not being in the latest BETA of iOS 11.3 is akin to the end of Apple as we know it, with chants of Tim Cook needs to go or this would never have happened under Steve. I’m not sure if it’s bad memory, selective memory, or outright denial, but Apple has had to delay major features in the past after a big announcement. Case in point, push notifications. Push notifications were announced on June 9, 2008, with a release date of that September. Well Sept came and went, with no push notifications to be found! In fact, push notifications were pushed back (no pun intended) all the way to June of 2009, with the release of iOS 3.

For all we know, AirPlay 2 will reappear in the next 11.3 beta (we’re only on beta 3, there’ll be quite a few more before 11.3 is finalized). Also, iCloud Messages is working just fine in 11.3, so everyone just needs to calm the f*ck down.

Agreed

It wouldn’t have been in the previous beta if it wasn’t close to being released.

I'm anxiously awaiting AirPlay 2. I want them to get it right, but I'm hoping its not going to take much longer.

They've had months to get this right ... almost as long as APFS!

Good chance this is now pushed to iOS 12. What a shame.

IF so somebody's head of heads NEEDS a drop-kick in the solar plexus or a shake up. Seems too many are either overlapping or somebody is NOT good with project management.

As a Sonos user I want this...

sincerely ... me too. This is more frustrating for us as buying a homepod will not give us much a benefit, as well as it's a major thorn in our sides cause this allows a much further delay from Sonos!!

At this rate, Craig Federighi is going to be boo’ed off the stage at WWDC 2018.

I really dislike Craig ... I've been heavily vocal for a year now. However to be honest this is not all his fault ... I blame Cook's management in this regard along with Craig.

iOS and MacOS now under 1 person who's NOT been the primary creator for iOS!
Kicking out the main creator and project lead for iOS was a dumb idea and leading us to this current state:
More management work and responsibilities for Craig,
Let's also place Siri under his management as well - as if MacOS and iOS was not tough enough!
Now with a new product launch and category, along with unforeseen emergency patches, thanks Intel(!),

have pretty much led us all to this!
Siri team - they NEED engineers and more scientists! Siri Team should be on their OWN! Work with iOS and MacOS yet their advancements and guidance should NOT be determined by those teams!
iOS - Needs more software programmers, with exceptional expertise!
MacOS - needs for software programmers

Apple what you playing at

(*&#^%)(#*&(*#&. ..... (WatchOS app to Breath ... Breath ... Breath) you can see my confusion and frustration with these delays as well.

Why is AirPlay 2 removed from Beta when it's buggy? It's BETA! That's the point of Alpha and BETA right ... fix the bugs, report, fix, test, report before resolved and then launch GM.

The irony is, of course that the original AppleTV had this features YEARS AGO.... Sadly, ATV Gen 2 and newer lost several nice features including that one along with the iTunes "LP" concept support extras and iTunes extras for a long time as well.

Continuity has so much promise. And when it works, it’s magic. But it’s defintiely inconsistent. I hope improving Continuity is part of the “cleaning up what’s already there” intention of iOS 12.
It does and it’s sad it hasn’t been more consistent since it was introduced what? With Yosemite and iOS 9 if I’m not mistaken.
It’s these types of negligence that make me really reconsider staying with Apple. My current MBP 2012 and launch day iPhone 6 are barely hanging in there. I want to upgrade but I’m not sure if Apple is the way to go for me anymore. Sad days.
I didn’t like that statement they said they’ll hold back features to “clean up OS bugs and tidy things up”. With all that money! Can’t they do both?
Is this a sign of no true leadership in their software depts. yikes.

I just have it turned off, never worked properly.
Exactly! Why even incorporate something that doesn’t work properly? Especially when they’ve done nothing to improve it.

It wasn’t until a couple months ago that they made it so you could search your home shared videos and access video playlists. Very slowly adding back features from the old atv hardware.
