Is it a good time to purchase AirPods, or is it possible they could see a refresh at a March event? At this point in the cycle, I'm not sure if I should keep waiting or go grab them now. Any thoughts?

And they have been in short supply since launch, and just now are they able to meet the demand. So they can easily milk the market until 2019.

AirPods can be updated through software. I wouldn't expect a true gen two design until 2019 or later. They are just now getting supply/demand fleshed out.

We don't know if there will even be a March event at all. Last year everyone thought There would be a March event for the iPads, and that Actually occurred in June during WWDC 2017. So there's no guarantee of that happening at all.

That said, take advantage of the AirPods now. They're a great device and still relatively new being under a year. There is no inclination of when we will see the next generation of AirPods.

Short supply? I can walk into any Apple store or Walmart and get them. I see them all the time

I ordered from Best Buy and had them in 2 days. I wasn't sure how much I'd like them, but after using them now for a week I'm really happy with them. As others have said, you're safe to purchase now.

They have been in very short supply (see e.g. https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/27/airpods-shipping-estimates-3-to-5-business-days/ if you don't trust me). I have seen the same thing in my country.

If AirPods in december will come with the new case, then that may be a good time to wait.
But I wouldn't be surprised if it will only be sold separately.

I had the information that the new case should be included with the AirPods sold after the release of the iPhone X, with the same price, those were the estimation of the person who attend me by phone in the apple care service.

Does anyone have some information like this? Perhaps the AirPods bought since now would have the new wireless case.
