Nov 3-5.... I'm glad the MagSafe plugs into USB-C adapter instead of being hard wired.... if you damage the cord, it won't be as expensive to replace.

I'm just annoyed that like I predicted (and others) that giving people HDMI/SD card readers and such, meant we were going to lose a TB port in the process.

As many times as I've used all 4 ports on my 16", this is going to be a pass for me. Was really hoping for one of these amazing chips in the Mini, but I guess I'll get to wait more.

i really didnt want hdmi back on. there's a number of reasonable ways to get hdmi on the go with usb-c, and if one is actually needing an hdmi connection, the laptop has to be stationary somewhere anyway. sd cards at least had some form of an excuse, but i think it is unnecessary.

16 m1 max 32gb 2tb Oct 26th, so psyched. I guess 10 teraflops is going to be roughly equiv to a 2080 or maybe a 3070 for performance. Very interested to compare it to my 3800x / 3090 setup in Davinci. I had an M1 14" 8GB for about 2 weeks and while I was blown away by what it could do in a small package, wasn't quite satisfied with performance so I returned it. I'm hoping this can be something closer to equiv to desktop performance.

graphs in the keynote compared vs specific model windows laptops that have mobile 3080 chip

When would the MacBooks be available on Best Buy typically? I have a lot of rewards I’d like to use.
They were avail day and date in my experience, but only in stock configs which is a downside for some people.

I was able to order my 14" on the education site before the main site was even updated. Pretty painless (except for the pain in my wallet).

I wanted a Mac Mini with those specs, but I guess there is nothing for me this year.

Me too, but suspect supply chain issues are just too strong right now to offer a new-gen M1 mini right this moment.

Depending on demand, potentially that could change with a no-event release, but it's probably not likely until early next year. Suspect the design is already done as well as the tooling as it's really just the laptop board going into the cube. No screen, low audio, no keyboard - relatively easy-peasy.

I’d rather pay 771USD more for my MacBook Pro, and have free healthcare… than pay 30,000USD for child birth but get 771USD discount on my laptop.

Can’t have it all 🤓
None of my children have cost 30k. Not sure what news program you're getting your numbers from, but they're wrong.
I point it out in case, you know, knowing what you're talking about matters to you.

Out of curiosity I priced out my M1 16GB/1TB MBA as a trade in. $740. Bugger right off with that, Apple, seeing how you'd be reselling it in the refurb shop for twice that. That's just insanity.

You always lose out when you upgrade specs unfortunately, best trade in value comes from the base models.

I hate that this is this much.. was ready to order and saw the price.

Oh well, M1 will have to do!

Around 3 years after the iPad Pro (3th gen), still no FaceID for the MacBook Pro (1999$).
Windows has its own Face unlocking system (Windows Hello) since 2015.

In my opinion, very disappointing for a company such Apple.
‘Windows Hello’ is nothing like Face ID. Different technology that’s nowhere near as advanced - it can even be fooled by holding an image to the camera.

Just ordered a 16” Max 32 GB 1 TB. Shipping estimate between Nov 11 and 18. Price close to 3.5 k€ (ex VAT) including Apple Care+.

Hi guys I intend to get the higher spec mbp 14. Could Anyone pls advice me if I’ll need 32gb instead of 16gb off ram pls. Casual user with v occasional video editing. I future proofed my last mb pro by doubling the memory in 2015 and it was useful. But do I really need 32gb ram for every day tasks? Seems a bit excessive

Upgrade, trust me. I've been using MBP with M1 and Mac Mini with M1, both maxed out at 16 GB RAM and I can't go more than 2-3 days without being told I am out of system memory and apps (even M1-optimized apps) being forced closed. I'm not talking about it prompting me to close apps (though that happens), I'm talking about coming back to the computer an hour or two later and discovering half the apps I had open/running no longer open/running. I've lost work as a result of this if the system is unable to recover, as is often the case if app doesn't have cloud-saving built-in.

Haha, that’s like saying “My tumour didn’t cost me a dime”…

While the person across the street had to have open brain surgery for 200,000 USD.

Don’t be silly. I am pretty sure you get my point in my argument. Yes, we pay a **** load of tax in Sweden, but we have free healthcare, school and university.

A part of the sales tax on a new MacBook Pro goes to that.

My free university degree laid the foundation of getting me the job that allows me to afford that MacBook.
