Very, very nice. I have maxed out 2015 MacBook Pro, the one just before usb-c only, so with all the great ports. It's still great and I love it, but man, these new ones are tempting.

I also have a maxed out 16" from work and man, it's great honnestly, I miss some of the awesome ports, but I just HATE the TouchBar. Just accidentally brushing over it and reducing volume, brightness or executing some other command, it's so annoying. I am so glad they ditched it.

Only thing I dont like, (you've probably guessed it): the notch. Ah well, I guess I'll get used to it, like on the iPhone.

Lovely job! Touch strip gone (shame for those who loved it), MagSafe back, nice new screen and what will hopefully prove to be a kick arse cpu n gpu! Pretty much all my gripes save replaceable ssd (fat chance lol) - now to head down the docks, I hear there’s food money to be made doing favours for sailors hahaha - not even slightly fazed by the notch, loads of dead space up top bar anyway

It is not immediately obvious that the M1 Max starts at 32GB RAM. So if you were interested in the 10 core M1 pro with 32gb then the extra $ for the m1 Max is not that bad considering it is another step in performance.
Saw that when I ordered my 14” minutes after the keynote, was planning for the m1 pro (which to be honest is sufficient for me) with 32gb but decided to go for the m1 max then. Delivery next week!

glad i ordered mine early....i'll have it next week, but that same config is now showing dec 23rd!

That's the 16 max/64gb/32 gpu with 2TB. The 4TB is late November (guess there are fewer people with that kind of cash). 2TB seems to be the sweet spot. Gonna be a blue Christmas for folks who waited even a few hours.

I suspect they didn't introduce the mini in order to have enough chips for these...and there's a lot more profit in them than a smaller box.

I don't get how some people got into the "next week" camp -- I literally refreshed the page until the store opened, and immediately created my order. The site immediately froze and broke at the shopping cart step. I then had to go to the my phone to do it, and it went slowly -- while it waited and failed repeatedly, I got to November. Curious how it worked better for others -- data center proximity?

Yup. I did 32GB memory and 1TB simply for future proofing. I think the base CPU is “good enough” considering I’m a programmer and not a media professional. Stoked!
Given that it's now shared video and main memory, I'd have to say that 32 is the minimum for future proofing. Good call!

I used the app on the ipad. Have learned over the past few launches that it's vastly more reliable than the website.

Yeah, the app didn't help me -- I kept freezing at the checkout piece on both web and phone. It would just spin, give an error and then send me back. Usually the phone is my savior, but today it was just as bad as the web. Was so frustrating.

Out of curiosity I priced out my M1 16GB/1TB MBA as a trade in. $740. Bugger right off with that, Apple, seeing how you'd be reselling it in the refurb shop for twice that. That's just insanity.
Yeah I did the same with mine just for kicks...$620 for my 7 core GPU 16GB of RAM/256GB SSD model. I'm not buying anyway but that's not terribly bad since I paid $1050 for it. The M1 Air is an exceptional value, especially in light of the new Pro model pricing. But the new Pros are really incredible products. May get the 16" base model for home use down the line, but my next planned product upgrade is the next gen iPad Pro to replace my 2018 12.9.

Got 29th for a quite maxed out configuration
I get mine on the 26th. Only thing I skimped on was storage I stayed at 1tb mainly because I just bought a Samsung T7 Touch 1 tb external ssd. After AppleCare and taxes 16” M1 Max was at a little over $4700.00 I’m really glad I got my order in. I don’t have a lot of time left due to a medical issue so I will enjoy this as things start winding down then our daughter will take it. Wife doesn’t want it. She still is a Windows person.

So my order, that used to say the 26th, now doesn't show any date at all....sigh. Hope it's just a glitch and not a bad sign. Or punishment for my deriding the notch!

the accessories still show dates, but the Mac is just 'arrives' with no date.

normally they are quite conservative on the shipping, so you should be fine
