Yeah, I got a pair but only within 5 minutes of the store opening. They're apparently receiving regular shipments so if you want to get them early you can try tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the advice. Perhaps I will. All these positive reviews are only growing my longing for these.

These are $10 more than the Bose wireless option. It just seems like a lot. I like how small they are but so easy to lose.

I have some Bose QC30 that cost 300 dollars, so they're nearly half the cost of those. It's really not a huge issue. And, yeah... they could get lost easily, but so could all my rings and I know my husband spent more on those than 159 dollars.

:)

Anyone NOT like these, like myself? Outside of the fit/sound quality, what about the tap feature, people?

I hate the double-tap: it DOES NOT work properly! Whether used for Siri, play/pause, or importantly when taking/ending phone calls.

tap-tap: nothing; tap-tap: nothing; tap-tap: nothing... missed calls galore!
tap-tap: nothing; tap-tap: nothing; tap-tap: nothing... FREEZE the damn music.
tap-tap: nothing; tap-tap: nothing; tap-tap: nothing... Siri doesn't answer.

Regardless of the setting used on the phone.

Gotta love how these things sync

awwwh such a cute dog!

You're just being an ass. Every single pair of Bluetooth headphones before now has been complete trash.

No I'm not. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones but my cheapo Amazon bluetooth headphones were easy to pair, and had surprisingly good sound quality, good battery life, good features.. and they cost like $25.

Either lucky or rocking really low standards, but fair enough. ;)

I've had two pairs plus the Griffin iClip thing and they've all been annoying in a "Death by a Thousand Cuts" kinda way.

I think they probably can, inside the about menu on your iPhone a new section appears called Airpods and it lists the software and hardware revision. I imagine there is some kind of way to update them.

Also I'm aware of the pulling one out thing, but I really would prefer just being able to tap them to pause/play.

As somebody said if you didn't catch it you can change the setting in the Airpod menu from Siri to play/pause.

Edited for brevity;

PS: Anyone keeping them, I'd recommend getting a back-of-neck chain of some kind, as I can see loss and/or, even worse, thief snatches from people's ears(!) possibly being a 'thing'.

The thief will be disappointed. You can't pair them with any other device unless you have the box to reset them. Tried pairing my friends phone and it told me to press the button on the case to continue. They are tied to devices on your iCloud account.

spectacular bluetooth range = 50 % higher risk for brain cancer ?

Wow just wait until BT5 comes 800% of the range and double the capacity. We will all die soon!!!

Question: I'm on the subway, and it's packed. I open the case, and the person right next to me has their iPhone up and running, do they get a prompt to pair the phones to their phone?

No you need the case to pair them the first time. Tried on my friend's and it told me to hold the button down on the back of the case. They are tied to devices on your iCloud account.

I should have been more detailed in my answer. I was already aware of this setting but it's for a double-tap. What I want is to be able to tap once for play/pause and double tap for Siri. I don't want to replace Siri, I want two gestures instead of one.

AFAIK the answer to that is no.

It is for double tap, but to use it you must deactivate the Siri feature. What I'd like really is 1 tap for play/pause and 2 taps for Siri.

Or it would be nice if you could configure the left bud 2 taps for play/pause and the right one for Siri etc

Seems like a good move for a software update.

Yeah, so is that pesky small metal thing I have to put in my car to go to work... and that little slim piece of plastic to buy stiff with... and that little piece of metal and glass that lets me call people and text... and those things with wires used to stick in my ears before AirPods.... and... and...

point: careless/irresponsible people will lose anything.

Oh yeah you are so right. How could I have missed that.

Somebody bumps into me when I'm walking down the street listening to them and one pops out of my ear and breaks or gets lost. That is wayyyy more plausible than the same scenario and losing my keys or credit card.

Point: It is not worth that much money

I understand the thinking behind this. I was skeptical myself. However, I've ran over 6 miles now using my AirPods since I got them, and no problems, let alone walking. No problems while doing chores, lounging, sleeping, nothing. I know that not everyone's ears will be a perfect fit with the AirPods, but I am saying that you should give them a chance before completely discounting something you've never experienced.
