my apple earpods never fallen out, and i used those since iphone 3.

I wonder if all of the people that claim this have the total recall to remember that they've never actually fallen out. Or, like countless other incidental events in our lives, we just don't remember them falling out, hanging by the wire and us putting them right back in. Many of us probably can't remember the clothing we wore all day as recent as a few days ago.

With this new product, it will be different. When one of these falls out, it's going to fall to the floor. In a clear or accessible space, this will also be incidental. We'll put it back in and forget that it fell out. On the other hand, when it falls out and into a more inaccessible space (a crack between the seats, off the side of an escalator, into the bushes near where we were jogging, etc) and we have to invest some time hunting for it, odds seem higher we'll remember that kind of incident.

It’s been theorized that the reason they fall out of your ears is the constant pressure from the cords. I’ve watched numerous videos and read many reviews. Not one has stated they fall out of your ears. Actually, quite the contrary.

But, YMMV
Its not theory, the cord weighs more than the buds themselves. Just having the cord at all is a constant tug at the buds. Its rather simple. AirPods won't be falling out all that often since there is nothing constantly trying to drag them out of your ear.

If Apple made hats they would all be size 7-1/4, because that is the perfect size. It would not have a bill in front because Apple thought you didn't need it. If it didn't fit, you would buy it anyway because Apple knows what you want.
But they don't make hats and headphones aren't hats, and headphone companies don't make multiple sized earbuds

Yeah yeah, companies have silicone tips, you can buy third party ones for EarPods online.

I can't even fathom why anyone would want these. Normal earbuds fall out of my ears with the slightest movement and these appear just as bad.

I want them! Normal earbuds do NOT fall out of my ears, period. So these should work just fine. I don't think they are the greatest looking headphones, but I've been looking for some decent bluetooth headphones that don't have that cord that stretches between each of them... you know the cord that sticks to your neck while your working out and the slightest head turn yanks out one of the earphones? that's why I want these! to each their own...

This is very scientific. Better science would be to test it.

Fashion is very subjective. I think people look equally ridiculous walking around with big, 80’s style Beats-branded cans over their ears. But many seem to like that “look.” To each his own.

Well I don't know about the Beats-branded part, but Bluetooth over-ear headphones generally provide better sound and much, much longer battery life. If I'm going Bluetooth, I'm not sure why I'd choose a solution that only gives me 5 hours of battery life.

This item will complete me. Now with the buds, Watch, new MBP, I can be myself. Or something like that. Apple sheep clone. :)

I'm not sure why someone would purchase these when you can get a cracking pair of headphones for a similar price. What a world.

Just like virtually every single-ear Bluetooth headset ever made, including hundreds of models that are held in place solely by sitting inside your ear.

And, yet, incidents like you describe are *decidedly* in the minority. Statistically insignificant, even.

Surely they offer more than 5 hours battery life?

Got sick of waiting to try these out and picked up a pair of Beats Solo3 at a very nice discount to try out. I went in expecting the worse (considering Beat's sound quality reputation, or lack thereof) and have been pleasantly surprised. The 'magic sauce' provided by the W1 chip seems to be the real deal--paired it once and now can fairly seamlessly switch between my Watch, iPad, iPhone, or Mac, something that has been a huge pain point when trying to switch audio sources on any other BT headphones I've used in the past. The sound is as good as any other BT headphones I've used (haven't used high end cans yet ;)) and contrary to many accounts I've read online, I find them quite comfortable. Best part---promised extended range looks to be valid, I've had far, far fewer of the random BT disconnects I've see with my other models, and the battery life is absolutely insane.

I realize potential customers of the AirPods may not even consider a larger, over/on ear style headphone but I've very happy I didn't wait and gave these a try instead.

So don't buy the EarPods. Me, I am really looking forward to getting a pair (delivery estimate of 19 December).

Missed the initial ordering window. Guess I'll try my luck with finding them in stores.

Possible to buy a wire thing to hang behind neck for them, for those who are afraid (so they look more like those beats wireless ones) , im 100% sure my earpods never fallen out by themselves, only if the wire got stuck into something..

Apple figures everybody wants to rock the fashion world with the broken Q Tip look hanging from the ears. Oh yeah!

Innovation has to start somewhere. Remember the first cell phone brick? who wants to put that next to their ear? oh everyone in the world apparently once the technology matures.
