Or course, but Apple has a magic sauce of integration and wow factor which is what made Apple APPLE...the most valuable company on planet earth, fora reason. On top of high end quality industrial design which is a staple.

Im just going to go out on a limb here.....have you actually heard a homepod? Or know whats possible with producing Dolby Atmos using two of them...let alone now with the Airpods Max?

Sound is a very subjective thing and you or anyone else can go ahead and get another nice pair of cans for 2-300 and call it a day. The fact these are already sold out for 3-4 months looks to me like they might have another hit similar to what happened with original airpods. Apple pretty much owns the consumer headphone space and now they are going for the slightly higher end.

I fully anticipate next fall all the NFL players will have ditched their beats for these and again like what happened with beats, these will be the over the ear cans to buy for most.
See, there you go again. What on earth do NFL players ditching crappy beats headphones have to do with anything?
Is that supposed to be some sort of recommendation?

Yes, heard a HomePod. I think you can guess what I thought.

I think we're just going around and around in circles here. I appreciate your opinion that Apple are just absolutely brilliant at everything they turn their hand to.

I just don't agree with you - at least not for their audio offerings. Even though their other products are incredible.

Because thats what creates sales and value to consumers. They see others wearing beats and airpods all over the place. Thats how sales and marketing work. Tons of people HATE Bose with a passion, yet they seem to be doing ok!

We can avoid going around in circles on sound, etc. I just personally think they have a potential major hit here which we will know in a few months.

But yes we can agree to disagree. Have a good day.

And you too. :)

Haha, you gotta love how some random-ass rumor that may or may not be true becomes "what Apple had planned".
Nothing can be proven outside of Apple of course, but leakers have said Apple was planning a touch surface interface, and that does very much fall into line with what you would expect from Apple.
Putting a Apple watch tiny scroll wheel that you have to blindly reach up and find to be able to control things,m must, by simple common sense be quite obvious that would not have been a original planned interface method.
More a we need to get something working for now option.

So, I just watched four unboxing videos for “first impressions”, yes biased pre-reviews most likely.

Comments the reviewers made:

1) The ANC is better than the Sony or Bose
2) The sound quality is better than Sony or Bose
3) Spatial Audio is better than on the AirPodsPro

That’s 3 wins if true, but we await the real reviews.

The price of these isn’t a issue to me, the value is.
Oh, and I don’t like the look of either the heqdphones or the case.

So, I will only be buying these if the Spatial Audio for Dolby Atmos etc. far exceeds what I can get elsewhere in headphone form. The auto device switching is cool and valuable but not everything.

note: I think Beats are garbage, Bose pretty poor and Sony also too fake with the Bass.

Only 1 reviewer said that the ANC is better on these, the others said that are on par with the APP.

I’m currently happy with my Sony WH-1000XM3 but the Max is really intriguing. For this price, I’ll probably wait a bit and see what bugs pop up when more people start using it. Its a gen 1 product so I have my reservations. Most likely consider a gen 2 unit a year or two down the line when most of the issues have been most likely ironed out.

iJustine has reached a new level of cringe for me. Her "reviews" are nothing more than her trying to be cute for the camera and fawning over whatever product Apple has given her for free. The least she could do is act somewhat professional and not like a 12 year old girl trying to mug for the camera.
Well clearly you are not her target audience;I certainly am. I don't watch her reviews to make buying decisions but she does introduce new tech products with her cheerful positive videos and I enjoy watching them!

If these are "considered" to be and "sold" as high end headphones?... YouTubers will not cut it...
Lets wait and see all the reviews coming from the trusty experts in the audiophile field...
Such as:

This is a rumors site so of course there is a lot of leak coverage but we would be forever disappointed if we actually believe that what leakers say are precursors of reality.

Considering most people probably can't hear the difference (presuming there is any), it's going to be a tough sell for these at nearly twice the price. I got the XM4's once I saw the renders and damn these things are nice. I really don't think I need a better product.

MKHBD said they do not turn off unless you put them in the case.

That's a no, HUGE no for me.

Edit* Nilay says they go to sleep after a period of inactivity, but not sure that’s good enough. Still reading as many different sources as possible.
I can’t stand that idiot. Just shows, any fool can be on YouTube.
Guys a nob.

Ah nuts. Is the expensive Apple cable the only way to go for this then? There are third-party 3.5 to Lightning cables out there but I'm guessing no...
Not yet - also when they do, are they going to use the same DAC/ADC that Apple does or some cheap garbage (Apples one is very very good).

$35 for a cable sounds alot. but the replacement cable for my HD25's is around the same price and thats just a plain 'ol cable.

Considering the number of Beats headphones that have sold in the past number of years. I think the additional $150 is going to be a VERY easy sell if it outperforms them in any area.

That's a reasonable and diplomatic thing to say. Compared to a $50 pair of headphones I suppose these are high end. But in the entire spectrum from the lowest to the highest, I doubt they will be judged close to the top. I have the latest Bose (in addition to my LCD-3s) and even if the Apple cans are better than the Bose, I'm sure that's about the best I'll be able to say.
It's a shame you have no decent headphones to compare them to 😉😆 🤣 /jk

How does one become an audiophile?
By using biggest most colourful words possible to describe your perception of sound.
By disagreeing with everyone else's perception of audio.
Tip: Being a total prick helps increase your chances of becoming a truly GREAT audiophile.

Basically audiophiles are to music what wine tasters are to drinking. And no-one invites a wine taster to a drinking session.

Not a fan either, but hey she seems to be doing well and I bet makes a killing. Besides, if the kids like that style then good for her and good for them. There's plenty "boring, professional" reviews to be found as well.

The case kills the deal for me. If I'm going to spend this much on headphones, there's no way I'm going to spend more for an after-market case. The current one does not look like something I want to pull from my bag, and it wouldn't protect the headphones in my bag anyway.

What damage will really happen from the lack of the hard case if you put it in a bookbag? Maybe I'm ignorant but folding and unfolding headphones and then putting it in a hard case that takes up a lot of room is more annoying than using Apple's purse case.

I can't wait to see iJustine's super critical review and unboxing from her free pair.
Likewise, are we going to just over look the fact that these are $550 headphones that don't ship with a charger in the box? I mean, that's brutal. You spend $550 and after opening them up, you find out, no charger. Not only *that* but it's a USB-c Lightning cable. Seriously, who has a USB-c charger these days? So on top of that $550 your only option to charge these is to spend another $20 on Apple's 20W charger.
