Ignoring any other beefs, justified or not, without a sturdy case and ability to fold down somewhat, these seem totally ill suited to travel. Perhaps the target is largely home use, like high end wired headphones?

I expect a $200 case to appear shortly, but there’s no escaping they don’t fold down.

No gags about everyone wfh necessary, some of us still leave the house.

If ANC tech is off... what else is there to be on? Genuine question.

With my B&O H9i's, I only ever turn on / off the headsets ANC via a side-mounded switch, and with that switch, they headphones are off.

I think this is just people not getting lots of time to really play with the new kit in the rush to get a video out (which is fair enough), but I highly doubt Apple would overlook such an important thing.

Just telling you as an Air Pods Pro owner, they have the exact same setting, and that's what it does. Be really surprised if Apple does it differently device to device. 'Off' Essentially turns them into 'standard' Air Pods with no processing (well at least no NC or transparency, dont know about spatial awareness). You still hear what is being played, they are still 'On', but no features. If you haven't experienced transparency or noise cancellation, they are very distinctively different, than standard headsets.

To be fair, the iPhone got a $200 price drop, and the iPod didn't really become popular until it got a $200 price drop too...

And no one is saying that they're bad headphones (actually I am, I think they're too heavy, but I'm in the minority), just way overpriced for what they bring to the table. And they should be about... wait for it... $200 less.

See the pattern here?

OK... Seeing as though headphones are judged on audio quality, comfort, and price (relative to other headphones)...How long have you been using yours, and what other headphones have you personally compared them to, in order to come up with that assessment?

how did the reviewers test these without 4.3 being available for the public? download and install the beta version?

These will sell like crazy, despite the price and the case.

Apple REALLY knows their audience, and folks will want to be seen in these.

And of course, they work with the typical Apple panache.

As far as tech reviewers out there, my go-tos are MKBHD, Dave Lee, Dieter Bohn, and of course Linus: the skeptic, if a little annoying, voice from the PC side.

Yep. Going to sell like crazy (already have). Thanks for the tip on tech reviewers, the verge review made me puke. Really disappointing, and Justine, well, yeah. I haven't been a teenage boy for a long long time lol.

Linus.. I used to like his skeptical perspective, pointed out things I might not have considered. But he went over the deep end on his M1 review, like he had been personally offended by Apple not giving him a review unit. He kept whining and whining and whining about the release presentation long after everyone else was actually using the M1 and commenting on their use of it. I mean let it go! LOL

Yep. I'm afraid I couldn't pack these too well. Then I'm worried about damaging expensive headphones. Thing is, i have enough sets and don't use them much as it is. I prefer airpods because convenience of carrying in jacket.

Anyone else find these tech youtubers really hard to watch? There is just no substance to them. I’ll wait for the verge review.

I do like some people on YouTube. Or at least, I find some listenable. But the vast majority just get on my goat for one reason or another, some voices just weren’t meant for broadcast.

Which is partly why I have thus far avoided making videos for any of my reviews. Why cause unnecessary suffering to people with my Barry White voice.....

.... Let’s put it this way, I was watching Batman one day, the wife was upstairs doing, well, whatever she was doing.
She came down and asked who I’d been on the phone to. The only sodding voice that she had actually heard, was Bane making a speech. I mean, Bane! Bloody cheek :D

Is he back? I thought he was off doing other things according to his last video I saw
My understanding was that he went to Twitch doing FPS, so unless he makes a surprise comeback, those waiting for his review might be better suited finding a different one. I don't think he's posted a video in what...4-5 months at least?

Edit: last video from him was 8 months ago.

For sure on that.

The comments remind me of when Apple introduced the iPod, iPhone, iPad, Watch, AirPods, etc. A ton of negative froth from the breathless bent on giving Apple a good bash. Always amusing.
The difference is that those products were actually revolutionary. These are just overpriced over the ear headphone that you can get $200 cheaper from Sony or Bose.

Reviews seem not that great to me? MKBHD was very underwhelmed by them in my opinion.

Did we watch the same review? He was effusive but restrained until he had more time with them. I dont think he could've been more positive, he just wants to reserve time to make a more thorough evaluation. That's being responsible. All the reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt at this point as they are rushing to be early, but yeah, to me they seem positive. I guess we hear what we want to (pun intended). And yep, I know that describes me too LOL

Does ANYONE know what the case is made of? Leather? Vinyl? I wonder if there is a way to just place magnets on the cups to activate the low-power mode.
Justine seemed to hint that it was a type of fabric similar to the one used for the Smart Keyboard.
