I went to buy the original pros and a Apple Store employee runner at the Apple Store said they don’t work well for running because of the noise canceling- every time your foot strikes it breaks the seal and gives off feedback. I eventually bought them but I was surprised the runner didn’t use the obvious solution for running - turn off noise cancellation. I prefer by beats for running but these work fine if needed. For everything else they work amazing so I cannot wait to upgrade. Probably next year on Black Friday.
I use my APP1 for running and I actually turn ON noise cancellation. I find that useful to help cancel out the wind noise. No problems for me.

Thank you. The original APP mic quality is abysmal. Whenever I'm on a voice call and outside walking, I get constant complaints from the people I am talking to that the background noise is intolerable
That’s odd. I use my APP on work Webex calls for hours at a time every day and am told that the mic quality is great. Plenty of colleagues I’m talking with are wearing APPs too. Even when I’m out, walking in traffic, I’m told there’s no background noise. I do have Noise Cancellation enabled with one earbud in accessibility, though I don’t think transparency or ANC have any impact on the mic for phone calls.

Why did @arn decide to stop featuring iJustine in all the new reviews? Is she not intersectional enough for this crowd?
If by "not intersectional" you mean she's "too white and too privileged" for this audience, I doubt it. It may have something to do with the fact that she provides zero technical or critical review points for any Apple product, amounting to little more than a shill. That, and people here don't seem to like her much.

That and she is easy on eyes. Given YouTube algorithm I have wondered, in the most cynical way possible, why there is not a review channel that does all the reviews with girls in bikinis. YouTube is the clickbait site of the universe and it surprises me no one has just decided - screw it let’s go as low as possible.

But iJustine is likely richer than my wildest dreams so if someone said I could review stuff I already like and just be mostly pro I would take that job in a second. She found a niche that works for her so good for her.

YouTube has some limits on stuff like that. They've recently announced they're cracking down on a lot of the more 'sensual' ASMR artists - the ones that lick the microphone while wearing a bra, etc.

If people are going to rush out and buy these because (as Welch says) "they sound superior and deliver the cleanest, most dynamic output of any AirPods to date" I bet will be disappointed that they don't sound that much better. This sounds more like a paid advertisement. "any AirPods to date"? Even AirPods Max? Doubtful.

Yeah, I'm presuming that he means the best of the earbud models. The Max drivers are so much larger that tiny buds won't compete.

I won't complain about improvements though, the current ones are a bit meh.

I think they may get worse over time. I know I've had complaints in Discord recently, especially if I just use one bud. I didn't used to get as many a few years ago.

I bought the first gen Pro april 2020 with Apple Care+, for around 300 dollars.
I have been so disappointed at these headphones.

I have changed the case AND changed both headphones.
The problems that I have is when I pause and then press play on the AirPods nothing happened.
Then I have to take up my phone, unlock it with Face ID and then open music app and press play.
This happens 9 out of 10 times a day, since day 1.
I have tried Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer. I have reset and forget the AirPods 5 times under these 2 1/2 years and nothing happens.
Its my second pair of AirPods Pro, so in my opinion these are not so good.

Ironically I bought Jabra 65t active for 59 dollar, they sound better and NEVER drops bluetooth connection.

So I think I pass these Pro Gen 2, and Gen 3 and Gen 4...

That’s great. Maybe I run too hard but when I land the gap opens and the noise cancellation freaks out. Maybe I should try some larger foam tips.

Always sounded great to me.

Have you tried carrying a subwoofer in your pack pack? 👊😎👍
"Sounded great" is very relative. Hamburger tastes great until you've had a properly prepared Ribeye or Filet.

Regardless, I use my Libratone Track+ when I exercise (walk outdoors) every day. They sound fantastic with lots of good bass that makes the music sound more realistic. The seal in my ears seems much better (even though I put foam tips on the APP's). When I use my APP's, the music just doesn't sound as full and realistic. It's missing something (bass?).

Interesting that they chose to include SMALLER tips, I have the LARGEST tips in my APP1's and they still fall out of my ears. Give me BIGGER tips please!

I'm the opposite, I use the smallest tips and they don't go in quite right because my ear canal is apparently tiny.. I am looking forward to trying these smaller tips as I have been relegated to using third party foam tips for a proper fit.

Apple's second-generation AirPods Pro will begin arriving to customers and launch in stores on Friday, September 23. In advance, the first reviews of the wireless headphones have now been shared by select media publications and YouTube channels.

Priced at $249, the second-generation AirPods Pro feature improved audio quality, longer battery life, and up to 2x as much noise cancellation compared to the original AirPods Pro. They also feature swipe-based volume control, an improved built-in skin-detect sensor that more accurately turns on or off audio playback, and a new XS ear tip option.

The new AirPods Pro come with an updated charging case with a built-in speaker and U1 chip for Find My support with Precision Finding, an opening to attach a lanyard for carrying convenience, and IPX4-rated water and sweat resistance. In addition to Lightning and MagSafe, the case can now be charged with an Apple Watch charger.

We have rounded up both written and video reviews of the new AirPods Pro below.

Written Reviews

The Verge's Chris Welch said there are "substantial" improvements to active noise cancellation:Welch also noticed improved sound quality overall:Engadget's Billy Steele achieved around six hours of battery life as advertised:Gizmodo's Andrew Liszewski said the new swipe-based volume control feature is a welcomed upgrade, but can be "a little finicky" on occasion:MobileSyrup's Patrick O'Rourke said swipe-based volume control is his favorite new AirPods Pro feature, providing for a more convenient listening experience:O'Rourke added that iOS 16's Personalized Spatial Audio feature is not very noticeable:WIRED's Parker Hall said the charging case's new built-in speaker "rings quite loudly" to assist with Find My location tracking, but he wishes the case had a USB-C port for wired charging instead of the usual Lightning connector:Video Reviews

is there a way to setup an alart for when battery drops below 20%? for both mac OS and ios, cause my mac never tells me the battery level of the case only the earbuds.

Exactly, it’s relative to me. The seal on my APP are perfect and the bass is ‘great’ for me. If I need bass that’s gonna blow my mind I’m gonna get in my car and take a drive or turn on Definitive house system.

👊😎👍

The only review that matters is Floss  . Not expecting anything new over my Gen 1 APP which I only use for phone calls. For music I use B&O and Sennheiser buds.

I just bought Sennheiser Momentum 4’s. My AirPods Pro’s have slightly better noise cancelling and obviously the pairing is very slick. But the Momentum 4’s kick the APP’s a** when it comes to sound quality. No contest. Plus 60 hour battery life. The only time I use my APP now is when I don’t want to be wearing cans.

I agree. I'd be afraid to use noise cancellation outside like that. It'd be too easy to not hear a car coming and get hit.

All these comments about iJustine are hilarious!

I can't stomach her, she's waaaaay too bubbly and over the top positive.. No product is that perfect as she makes every single apple product seem. Apple can deliver a turd to her house with an apple logo and she would absolutely love it and explain how its made her life so much better.

I had to get foam tips because they regularly fell out while running with the original ones.
But did that make them stay in your ears and which ones are you using? I'm always using foam tips with my wired IEs, but they don't fit the APPs, so the only option is Beats Fit Pro for me with an annoyingly large case.

Given that the batteries on my AirPods is nearly unusable (about 30-60 minutes of use), I would've upgraded for the refresh alone. That is, merely catching up to AirPods 3's quality of improvement.

If you use AirPods as often as I do (daily), be sure to pay $29 for AppleCare+ and replace your AirPods near the end of 2-year expiration. On my last visit, Apple didn't run any diagnostics. I just told them that I use AirPods daily and its battery lasts only about half as much as before. I received a new pair of AirPods and the charging case.

Interesting, the sound quality + battery life make the Sennheiser Momentum 4's sound appealing. Do you find that you miss the ease of pairing from the AirPods Pro? That would be my only hesitation.
