Do people really need their headphones to measure their heart rate? I’d expect that most folks interested in that data already have a fitness tracker of some kind. Why can’t AirPods just be great headphones?!

imo reason is likely that AirPods are already relative power computers and wherever there is excess computational power, technology tends to expand to make use of it

Hence, the question at Apple likely became: "what else could we do with all this computational power here?"

A for profit corporation only needs to make a profit, which they are doing. Stale they may be, but are they making a profit in being stale?
Short term thinking vs long term thinking. If you willingly let your competitors leapfrog you, you will eventually lose the market.

1. If you track your fitness, you use a Garmin et al

2. You don't want to sleep with these to track sleep and HRV either

3. The USB-C case is already small enough, but this won't exactly hurt either. Bet they removed wired charging? That's a no go for me at least.

4. Better fit is very good, because my Pro 2 just...they don't exactly fit perfectly. Sometimes they do but they a little wiggle and they're misaligned but you can't tell how.

5. ANC suffers more from misalignment than bad ANC for me. But for some things it's really not that good with perfect fit either (first world problem)

6. If I loose mine, I'll buy the 3. But I'm not replacing these. Which is good for W&E (wallet and environment).

How about lossless audio when connected to Apple Music on your iPhone?

Do you mean "Apple Lossless" or "Apple Hi-Def Lossless" (i.e. even more lossless than normal lossless)?

The fact that Apple Music offer both options should make people think about what "lossless" means when Apple says it.

There will be quality loss over Bluetooth. No way around that.

What you want is better sound quality and a more accurate reproduction/recreation of the original audio. But that's not "lossless" in any real sense.

If this is true, then what is even the point?
Don't care at all about an extra device that measures my pulse, I already have an Apple Watch, like a LOT of Apple users do.
Honestly, it is inexcusable if it does not have an improvement to ANC/Quality of sound.

From a planned day 1 purchase to: "I don't care!"

There's some of us that are still on Pro 1, will be happy to update after 5 years or however long I've had the current ones.

So in the last few days it’s pretty much confirmed (based on controlled leaks) that…

iPhone 17 series offers nothing new, unless you count the air and a crossbody strap.

Apple Watch won’t have a hypertension sensor at all.

AirPods Pro 3 won’t actually have any audio improvements.

And some people are still in denial about Tim Cook’s leadership of Apple?? He needs to go. This isn’t the Apple of old anymore. They are stale and they play it too safe and way too incrementally.
As long as Tim Apple make stock price 📈, who cares about customers! He can always promise “early next year”.

Well its official my awe has been droped. There is now no more awe avaiilable to alllocate. The awe bucket is being diverted elsewhere. If there isn't a sensor change on the awu3 or the iphone doesnt gain an 8*lens I'm out. Truly this is shaping up to be triumph of marketing over susbstance.

In a way this bad news is good news... it just saved me some $$!!
I don’t want to save money, I need something to replace my AirPods Pro 1st Gen (the ANC died last year). Even the 2nd Gen would be a good upgrade for me but I’m not buying 2022 technology in 2025.

Almost like Apple has more customers than just you. Some that may care about that extra measurement. Others with Pro 1 or no Pro at all.

Apple this year seems to be skating on by while offering absolutely nothing earth shattering or must have.

Save your money folks.

Very underwhelming if true.

Great for the few people who want marginally more accurate HR tracking.

I guess the only major improvement will likely be better battery life.

Maybe it’s just me but after 3 hours I need to take my APP2 out of my ears & after 5-10 minutes they’re nearly fully charged again. So kinda pointless for me.

Oh and a smaller case. Right. It’s not like the APP2 case is humongous.

Very disappointing. 😟 This was the only thing I was looking forward to in regards to the announcement. The health related features are nice, but I was hoping for better ANC and sound.
