Hey guys!

First of all, loving the new and my first AirPods!

Secondly, want to know whether it is just me or not that have the charging case for AirPods is not stable or in other words clicking and moving left and right slightly?

Yes! This is driving me nuts.

Not sure it’s worth getting them exchanged, but I can definitely feel the lid section slightly sliding left to right more than I’d expect.

Even more frustrating is the fact that the lid is partially OPEN half the time I reach into my pocket (this only happens when the case is empty and the AirPods are in my ears)

Same thing here. A bit dissappointing considering the price we paid but the nearest Apple store is 1 hour away and I don’t have time to go there so I’ll just live with it.

Picked mine up yesterday and they are doing the same thing, I think I'm going back to the Apple Store next weekend (it's about an hour from me) to see if the display units are doing it as well. This should not happen on a $250.00 product.

I wouldn't sweat it. Previous Airpod cases also did the same thing. Lots of threads about it. Here are a few

Well, if I were to buy AirPods with case like this from somebody and it could be just me but I would be concerned

...no big deal for me though.

And it shouldn't be a big deal for everybody else. This is just ridiculous. It's a mechanical element with ever so slightly tolerances. The case doesn't become magically unstable due to it. When the clicking annoys you just stop pushing it from side to side like a lunatic. It's ok for a hinge to have a little bit of play in it as long as it doesn't affect you when the product's used in a normal way.

Exactly!!

In threads about the earlier gens of AirPods, a few have said that the problem goes away with a hard or leather case. If anyone is precious about this then that's the answer

You're kidding I hope (but I doubt you are). This type of attitude is why companies get away with making shoddy products. We're talking about $250.00 Apple Airpod Pro's not a $50.00 Chinese knockoff.

It has nothing to do pushing it from side to side like a lunatic, I found the clicking by pulling the case out of my pocket and flipping it around with one hand so I could open it (I must be holding it wrong). A little bit of play is one thing but when accompanied by a clear audible click that's something different and makes the case feel very cheap.

I have it on my OG AirPods case. I use it to relieve minor stress & flip the case lid when stress levels hit higher levels.

No big deal. Don’t stress over it.
😏

I'm dead serious. A play of approximately 0.05mm doesn't make it a "shoddy" product. The case is built very solid over all. And as long as there's a little play you can force everything to make a clicking noise.

The time they would reduce the play, some people'll start to complain that the case is too hard to open because the hinge is too stiff for sure...

In my opinion some of you are kind of obsessed with finding "problems".

Do you even own a pair of Airpods Pro or are you one of the people that Apple can do no wrong?

It's like you don't even read

"And as long as there's a little play you can force everything to make a clicking noise."
There is ZERO force needed. I barely brush my finger along the top of the case and it clicks. I pick the case up to put it in my pocket and it clicks 6 times. Again this is not a $50 Chinese knockoff.

"In my opinion some of you are kind of obsessed with finding "problems". Kind of hard to miss it when all you do is pull them out of your pocket and they are making noise.

Apple also agrees with me as I called and they stated it definitely should not do that and have setup an exchange.

You go ahead and enjoy paying and using products that are not 100% correct.

Yeah, I own a pair - since day one! Mine do that clicking too, doesn't bother me tough.

And I'm confident that the exchange will click as well.

Barely any product is 100% perfect. The case is absolutely fine and works as intended..

You're ok with buying products that are not 100%, good for you man!

Apple feels differently, so I'm going with their opinion over yours.

You're correct saying "barely any product is 100% perfect". It is next to impossible to find a perfect product, BUT finding products that work as designed should not be a rarity but the norm.

My Jaybird Run's were in my gym bag for over a year (never had a problem),my Galaxy Buds have been in my gym bag for 8 months (never had a problem). You know why I haven't had a problem with them? Because they work as designed, are they perfect? Not even close, but they work the way they were designed to work while the case for the Airpods Pro does not.

Yes, good for me, because I can completely enjoy a very nice product ;)

Feel free to do so. But don't be disappointed when new AirPods' case is clicking too. Apple will exchange them for basically any "problem" as long as you're still in the return period.

....but they work the way they were designed to work while the case for the Airpods Pro does not.

So......why do you think the AirPods' case is not working? Your case is not broken, there's just a little play in the hinge. Have you ever thought about the fact that maaaaaybe this is exactly the way it's supposed to be?

You have a hard time with reading comprehension. I never said the case does not work, I said working as designed. So.....You think Apple designed their case to make a clicking noise basically anytime you touch it? If they did they wouldn't have told me that it should not be happening.

Typical Apple can do no wrong mentality. It's a waste of time replying to someone with this type of mentality. You keep believing they can do no wrong and buy whatever they make, no matter the quality and when I have a problem with the quality of a product I'll call them on it and make sure I get a product that works as designed.
