I sure am interested, but would want to try them to see about the fit.

Also, I have a tendency to wash my headphones with my gym shorts once in awhile...

I’ve seen you bring this up a lot. Again, in the end Consumer Reports is just another mouthpiece with an opinion. You can find dozens of other reviews that say the opposite with Airpods .

But I hope whoever you gift Galaxy Buds to actually asked for them, I’d feel bad if they were hoping for Airpods instead :(

It can be played from the flip side as well.

When Consumer Reports raves about an Apple product, plenty of Apple fanatics rave about how great that mouthpiece of an opinion is.

we? i was perfectly happy with the original airpods. couldn't care less about these so-called "pro"s. also what was so "dark horse" about them exactly?..
You try using the old ones on the London tube and it's impossible even on max volume , new pro's mid volume and noise cancelling gets rid of all the train/tunnel noise and are fantastic!

If they can work on the tube they can work anywhere trust me!

I actually don’t take any critic reviews seriously at all. I look at what the actual consumers say, not some company with the word “consumer” in their name. I look at amazon reviews and Best Buy reviews.

I do the same with movies, I pay more attention to the Audience reviews than the critic reviews.

But.... But.... Apple should have priced them at $99... then there would be this underground market on eBay where people who hate Apple would buy tons of them and get rich selling them for $250.

They are already doing that with the super convincing fake AirPods Pro, and I'm guessing that's what you were referring to. ;)

i haven't been to london in a minute. is the tube far worse than the mta? :)

i'm sure the noise cancellation is a great add-on, but i hate those in-ear attachments. i used to use apple's old in-ear ones and they were awful for my ears.

Holy-Moly. They must be raking-in money faster than the Fed can print it.

In-ear headphones are not my thing, though. But I envy everybody who is ok with them.

Though, of course the projected lifespan is a bit short, considering the price. I really hope they find a way to make the batterie survive longer or make it exchangeable - but I have little hope the later will happen any time soon, if at all.

No, because this is not true. People will go out of their way to cheer for anything non-Apple, even if this product is objectively worse, just because Apple is "big and greedy" company and they want them to lose.
I actually read a Jabra review a few days ago that said “The Elite 75t don’t offer noise-canceling, but the fit is so good, I found that they blocked out noise better than the AirPods Pro, which do have noise-canceling.” When you’ve gotten to the point where personal preference runs afoul of science, ANY product can be described as better than AirPods Pro.

“This product, doesn’t have exactly the same sound quality, doesn’t fit in your ear quite as well, and doesn’t have noise reduction but, as a can of beans, it has 100% more beans than any Apple headphone/earphone product we’ve tested, EVER! I mean, it doesn’t even come close. Hands down, better!”

and now you can't tap for those controls that do exist - you have to squeeze... i think these are mostly popular among those who's ears weren't a good fit for the regular airpods. i can't blame them, but as for the rest of us...
The squeeze is a better gesture then the double tap

I wish they fit my little ears. I loved everything about them, except the fact that they pressed hard onto the cartilage and became painful after 20min or so. Tried all three sizes of ear cup and no dice. The plastic part of the airpod was always pressing on my ear.

Sent mine back, but I'm hoping I can rebuy if somebody comes out with third-party ear-cup thingy that is longer and lets the airpod sit a little further away from the ear channel.

After Jobs passed, Apple managed to introduce not one, but two massive hits that any other company would die to have.

Maybe it's time to eat crow for some Tim Cook haters around here.

True, and not to mention the Apple TV being the gold standard of set top boxes. Competitors may be able to beat at the price point, but not the feature set and experience.

Apple's tech lineup is stellar. Just not super affordable for many. $700 for a Watch in Canada... am I crazy? Yes. My soul is owned by monthly payments for all of this glorious tech.

The squeeze is a better gesture then the double tap

Is it? I'm concerned it would be difficult to run and squeeze without pulling out the AirPod from your ear. A tap seems easier in that scenario. But I'm not yet an owner, so I can't say for sure.

The squeeze thing works fine for me. I really think people are buying this for the ANC / transparent modes. The sound quality is a complete oversell.

i'm sure that it works fine, but i'm used to clumsily tapping "next" or "answer call" as i'm running around. with the pros i would need to squeeze for that. and now that it's cold - i'm wearing a hat)
so as opposed to a positive change, this is a nuisance.

i agree that the anc is the biggest factor here. the sound quality i was fine with on the original ones, and i'm sure these are just as good, or potentially better - that's purely subjective...

Gosh, I thought your original comment about Consumer Reports was sarcastic!

I've only seen one pair out in the wild!!
There were plenty in the airport last week. Over a dozen pairs spotted.

They're harder to spot from afar because the stems are so short. But after a closer look, yep, they were all AirPods Pro.

I just got the second generation AirPods as an early Christmas present. A little bummed I’m missing out on ANC, but otherwise I’m satisfied.

Another home run for Apple!

Yet the highly reputable Consumer Reports said they’re mediocre and that Samsung (yet again) destroys Apple on quality and price. I know which I’m going to gift to people.
Or, you could think more in terms of which gifts would make the recipients happier and less in terms of which devices or companies you have a grudge against.

...if only I could keep the right one from falling out of my ear all the time :-( None of the three tip sizes seem to work.

But this is good news: with so many sold, maybe some enterprising small companies will begin selling better fitting tips. I can only hope that this happens before I'll lose that right one (I had the original AirPods since they came out - not once did they fall out of my ear. The Pros have already fallen to the ground 1/2 dozen times :-(
