But.... But.... Apple should have priced them at $99... then there would be this underground market on eBay where people who hate Apple would buy tons of them and get rich selling them for $250.
They are already going for $300 on eBay.

new york is full of them by now. and they are uuugly...
They're definitely uglier than the originals. They stick out more and just look stubbier with their short stems. Not a great look - if they weren't so darn incredible/useful, I wouldn't want to wear them. Heck, as mentioned in another comment, even with one constantly falling out because none of the tips fitting, I'm willing to put up with that for the ANC benefit - that's saying something.

The best overall in-ear headphones of all time. Timothy J. Cook brought forth to us revolutionary devices and amazing changes that is in line with what Steven has set out on the table.

AirPods Pro, HomePod, Apple Watch, iPad Pro, Apple Music, iOS 7 redesign, macOS Yosemite redesign, HomeKit, CarPlay, new Apple Maps, Files, 2019 MacBook Pro, iPhone X, Apple Pencil, AirPlay 2, continuity and ecosystem, etc.

and now you can't tap for those controls that do exist - you have to squeeze... i think these are mostly popular among those who's ears weren't a good fit for the regular airpods. i can't blame them, but as for the rest of us...
This is probably true, bought two pairs. Apple's earbuds and original airpods have never fit my ear. And as far as the rest of you goes, you can still buy gen 1 and 2. If the Pros don't fit your ear, then there's zero need for ANC since you won't have a tight seal.

They look way better than the originals. The old ones look so awkward, it’s like a cotton swab is hanging down the ear. The headphones don’t have a bulge to them, so when its worn in the ear, it looks like a long white stick.

The bulgier ones look better like the AirPods Pro, or other headphones such as the wireless Google Buds and Sony ANC in-ear headphones look way better with a bulge rather than having a stem. Which looks embarrassing to wear in public imo

They look way better than the original AirPods, that’s for sure.

i admire how brave you are! :)
honestly there are times in the mta when i question my unwillingness to try these... maybe i'll swing by the apple store today and see how they sit in my ears at least... but falling out etc would drive me absolutely insane :)))

i'm sure that it works fine, but i'm used to clumsily tapping "next" or "answer call" as i'm running around. with the pros i would need to squeeze for that. and now that it's cold - i'm wearing a hat)
so as opposed to a positive change, this is a nuisance.

i agree that the anc is the biggest factor here. the sound quality i was fine with on the original ones, and i'm sure these are just as good, or potentially better - that's purely subjective...

I've told you... tap is superior vs squeeze... pro's are cool, but squeeze is a downgrade...

Yet the highly reputable Consumer Reports said they’re mediocre and that Samsung (yet again) destroys Apple on quality and price. I know which I’m going to gift to people.

lol you should gift to people what they want not what you think is better for them, everyone hates thakind of gifts Olanda who does them 🤣

i loved the way original apple headphones fit. second edition was awful and the current fit is great(for me). so i understand where you're coming from(thinking back to the second shape).

i know - i will probably pick up gen 2 this black friday. i just wish they dropped the pros alongside gen 3 of regular ones. i prefer to not buy tech that is a almost a year old, but my gen 1 i

Yet this is the headline at Consumerreports.org:
Apple AirPods Pro Get High Marks in Consumer Reports' Tests
An iconic product line gets noise cancellation and significant improvements in sound

It's true that Consumer Reports was less enthusiastic about previous models, but those aren't the topic of this discussion.

And just for the sake of accuracy... If you're going to claim a "highly reputable" reviewer said something, use their words, rather than replace it with your own interpretation of what they said. For example, where did Consumer Reports say, "destroys Apple on quality and price?" Here's what they did say:
And while the AirPods Pro sound far better than Apple’s earlier models, they still don’t meet the audio quality of our top pick for true wireless sound, the Samsung Galaxy Buds, which also sell for around $130. (They aren’t noise-canceling.)

Is it? I'm concerned it would be difficult to run and squeeze without pulling out the AirPod from your ear. A tap seems easier in that scenario. But I'm not yet an owner, so I can't say for sure.

It is somewhat different. Tapping is definitely easier. But you will get used to it.
It is said that by squeezing you might remove them from your ears. Yes, possible, but your have them between your fingers then. If you tap the old ones, they might just fall out of your ears - and you do not have them between your fingers. The old ones might fall to ground...

They're sure great for my reflexes - yesterday I caught one before it could land in the toilet :)

The thing is that I can't even tell whether the tips are all too big or too small. I used to have Etymotic in-ear buds and with those I could definitely tell when they were in the ear-canal vs. just pushing up against the opening. No idea with the Pros. Maybe my ears have just become insensitive.

I even do the awkward looking trick of pulling up on my ear with my left hand while I insert with the right. That right f*$ker just won't stay in place for more than a few minutes. The incredible thing is that even without a tight fit, they still manage to cancel noise well.

It’s not just the anc, the transparency is also unmatched! And this may seem a minor feature, it is in use a game changer: Sony wf-1000xm3/eh-1000xm3, b&o e8/h9 and Bose qc-35 (owned and used these for a and every other ANC set I tried have mediocre transparency. So you still need to take them out/off to have a conversation.
On a more personal level I find the pro’s the first in-ears that are multi hour comfy! But that is totally personal.

so I’m selling 5 sets and keeping the Sony wh for unparalleled ANC and the pros have become my daily “beaters”.

Demand must be just ok over here in Los Angeles. They’ve been in stock at about 90% of the stores since release day.

My Dumbo ears were handling og's perfect. No probs with pro's either. With tap you could tap anywhere, just anywhere, vibration was enough to control pods. Now you need to hit the g-spot.

You try using the old ones on the London tube and it's impossible even on max volume , new pro's mid volume and noise cancelling gets rid of all the train/tunnel noise and are fantastic!

If they can work on the tube they can work anywhere trust me!

Yep that's the key of the new AirPod Pro's - Noise cancelling.

I'll share my opinions below in case it helps.

The only downside is that I might actually prefer the "feel" of the old AirPods in my ears - they fit so perfect and I could wear them for hours and hours. So I am stuck keeping both old and new AirPods, and I am fine with that.

Sound quality is better on the Pro's - and I don't even care much about that, but yeah for sure the sound is better.

Noise cancelling is amazing on the Pro's - better than Bose I would say. Really great on airplane rides.

Comfort is a personal thing - and I feel that the old one's were a bit more comfortable, but I'm still going to be checking into the fit of all those ear silicone choices.

Weight - I think the Pro's are a bit heavier - no big deal, but I actually feel like the old one's are more secure in my ears than the Pro's at this time - but everyone is different probably too!

AirPods have finally taken off big time. So many people were complaining about headphone jacks and silly arguments against AirPods - but now anyone can see that AirPods really are great.
