Agree that AppleCare+ is worth it for AirPods, you have 60 days to buy it from the original purchase date. If the batteries drop below 80% the first year, replacement is free with the original warranty. (Other countries have longer initial warranty terms.)

Yes you are right, for Apple Watch normal wear of the battery isn’t included in the limited warranty. Singapore might have consumer law that covers you, but otherwise you are only covered if you have AppleCare+.

You get two years of coverage with AC+, and there is no fee for battery replacement if below 80%.
 
Just to update. I went to a Genius Bar appointment today, and got a pair of Medium. I was going to get two pairs, but they only had one pair of medium in stock. £3.75 they were.
