and I bet it’s 4 bucks per piece not pair?
I’m assuming it’s $4 for a full set of S/M/L tips. Apple acknowledges that many people may have differently shaped ears such that you may get the best seal with a medium tip in one ear and large in the other, for example, so it doesn’t make sense to charge people twice if they’re in that boat. And the entire set probably costs on the order of several cents to make, so…might as well. Like others have said, the packaging likely costs about the same or more than the silicone tips to manufacture.

It was a misprint, they are $49.50/set. Perfectly reasonable price in line with $1,000.00 monitor stands and $250 earbuds. :p

Compared to their upper-tier competition, the AirPods are actually pretty much in the middle price-wise. Now that monitor, however ...

1) MR links to an AirPod review from Gruber and the headline is about a $4 replacement part.
2) People buy new cars every 6 years (on average) and folks are complaining about an electronic device that needs to be replaced, perhaps, every 2 years. How long would a $100 dress shirt last if you wore it every day?
IMO, decide what you value and spend you money appropriately. I currently do not own an AirPods because I don't have a need for them; the wired buds are sufficient for me. But my two daughters both have them and like them. And I would consider getting the AirPod Pros if my lifestyle changed so that they would be useful for me. (Note: I do trail run etc. but never with music. I want to listen to what is going on around me, such as bikes, bears, and snakes.)

Problem is, its lifespan is dictated by the battery, and not the earbuds itself. The speakers and the electronics may still be fine, but rendered useless just because it couldn’t hold charges.

Would you buy a whole new car just because your otherwise-well-working old car has dead battery? Of course you wouldn’t.

How long (in average) that your wired buds last? How many times have you replaced it? I bet it could survive waaayy longer than a mere 2 years. Costs less, and lasts longer. That’s how OG, wired buds work.

Like I said, something bigger like Beats Solo Pro, or upgraded Studio would be a nice middle ground for me. Still wireless, still shares most the features (H1 chip, ANC, Transparency) and enormous battery that would wear less in the long run. When it goes bad, I can still replace it if I wanted to, instead of just dispose of it.

I’ve never had delay issues on the gen 1 or gen 2 airpods nor on my solo beats 3

sorry, I’m talking about when your using an app like GarageBand. Theres a delay when you hit a drum pad to when you actually hear it on Bluetooth headphones. It means you can’t really play “live”. When watching films etc.. the computer syncs the video with the Bluetooth delay so you don’t notice it.

I won't waste money on Apple anymore. iPhones are trash after 18 months of use. iPadOS 13 made my iPad unusable...the only Apple product I have that works flawlessly...my 2018 mac mini running Windows 10. Not touching Catalina with a ten foot pole.

promises, promises.

Really? I've had mine replaced numerous times at Apple Stores in the UK and there has NEVER been a charge. I show them the problem and they give me a new sealed pair each time. I'd expect nothing less.

Wanna guess how much (admittedly a set of) replacement tips and wings for Beats X cost?

**
$40 at a time when a completely new ‘pair’ of Beats X costs $100.

it seems people these days lack critical thinking. :sigh:

Would you damage the tips 3 sizes all at once? Just think about it...

My man, I would imagine you could lose/damage the tips at different times...wouldn't have to be all at once. Especially when some early impression videos show different sizes will still give you a "good seal" reading. Judging by your response, though, I got my answer.

Dude. I like Apple too, but it is a Business. And businesses have only one goal: make money by selling products. Otherwise it is called a charity. A good business makes more money than it spends, and good businesses can persuade its customers to buy a new product from them by offering something that its customers don't have or is better than what its customers currently have or an addition or variant of said product(s).

You know, otherwise the folks at Coca Cola would have been kiiiiiinda bored by now, if they had only sold the same original Coke as they have done so since approximately 1889 and did not try anything else.

So that's why Apple is releasing each year new variants of their iPhones, Macs and iPads even though their products from last year are stil perfectly fine. And the same goes for AirPods. And i have some news for you, you can expect new AirPods in 2020 or 2021 for sure!

Yes and this is how innovation dies. Bowing down to Mammon can only give so much spirit to a Company.

Buy AppleCare+ for AirPods.

Replace for a fraction of the cost when they “break”.

Keep your stomach.

Well its normal for a battery to degrade over time so good luck trying to get new AirPods Pro from AppleCare. LOL

I’ve experienced different answers from Apple. I once asked a Genius Bar staffer where I could get replacement wings and tips as they aren’t sold anywhere officially and he told me that they always have some around and I should just come by and ask. Only when I did so weeks later they only had parts for other models (incl. I think third-party ones) and it was recommended to me to contact Beats customer service. That is where I learned that there is an official item name (I think it was something like self-service package) that would cost me $40 after the warranty had expired.

By default, press-and-hold toggles between regular noise cancellation and transparency modes. That means, by default, the only way to invoke Siri is through the “Hey Siri” verbal command. But if you want to invoke Siri through a long-press, you can change that in the Bluetooth section of Settings on your iPhone or iPad. And, you can change it per-ear — so you can have your left AirPod Pro toggle transparency and the right one invoke Siri.

This is info I haven’t seen elsewhere. Very good.

I can’t find the replacement ear tips on the Apple website, so I’m confused as to how they know that they only cost $4.
