They did do that for the original AirPods with the wireless charging case, but it seems unlikely that the cases between the Pro generations will be the same since they are rumored to have a different design, specifically going stemless. If they give Air Pods 2 a USB-C charging case while keeping all the design same, I wish they allow me to buy just the outer charging case so that I can use my existing buds in new USB-C case. But Apple who love generating e-waste would not want to do this.
It’s so bad I had to turn it off on all of my devices except for my phone. I’d be watching YouTube on my phone and they would just randomly switch to my iPad which most of the time was sleeping or my computer. When it worked, it was awesome, but it rarely ever works correctly. This is one of my major gripes using AirPods Pro: I don't know which device it decides to connect to, and when my audio will cut out. I can sit in a room where iPhone and iPad are near me, and yet somehow AirPods decides I don't want to listen to video on iPad anymore and jump to iPhone despite me using iPad to listen to video.
I use these - which are available on Amazon, but they are expensive, approx $25They constantly fall out my ears as well.
Which foam tips do you guys use? Any recommendations?
Seems unfair to compare the sound of bluetooth earbuds like the Airpods Pro to wired earbuds like the Shure SE215'sANC was perfect at launch. Then with every subsequent firmware update Apple made them less and less effective. I don't get what they were trying to do.
They still sound atrocious compared to proper earphones though - even compared to budget Shure SE215's which wipe the floor with AirPods. Perhaps Apple will actually make some effort with the audio quality with the next gen Pro's as they are a complete joke.
own 3 each got rattle; apple replaced 2 of them and both got rattle after 3 months; never buying airpods pro againAirPods Pro are an essential product for me and I can't imagine a day without them. Apple Can introduce whatever generation/upgrade and I am in..
This is the exact issue I have. I'd probably buy them if they could design the battery to be replaceable, but while they remain a disposable item I just can't justify it. Plus they sound horrendous to the person on the other end of the line when used for phone calls. For the price difference, it didn’t seem like an obvious choice to spend the extra money for what are essentially disposable earbuds.
It isn't unfair at all. They are both used for the purpose of listening to music, and the AirPods Pro are vastly more expensive, and are disposable.Seems unfair to compare the sound of bluetooth earbuds like the Airpods Pro to wired earbuds like the Shure SE215's
If you use AirPods almost daily, $29 AppleCare+ is a must. Upon daily use, the battery would almost assuredly fall below the 80% mark before the 2-year anniversary. My quibble is that it is not possible for the customers to figure out the battery health. The worst case, you can "oopsy" the nearly 2-year old AirPods and pay $29 to replace them.998 days of ownership, still very happy and don’t really have any issues with them.
The buds were however replaced under the replacement program at 2 years of age. They did have a small defect, some ticking sound when on the move.
Did get me free fresh batteries though, looking at two more years of use I’m hoping.
Audio products like custom earphones are not like computers, they don't get antiquated so quickly, and they are still useful until technology surpasses it.The AirPods Pro launched 1,000 days ago today and are the oldest current-generation Apple device still on sale.
I highly suggest looking into some memory foam tips. None of the provided silicon tips fit me right. I bought these back in 2020, and absolutely love them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08534NLW4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1I really wanted to like the Pros, but I couldn't get the right fit in one ear. I still have them, but the AirPods 3 are my go-to buds because they fit perfectly.
It's like saying it's not unfair to compare how much quicker my wife's electrically powered vehicle (Tesla) is than my gas powered vehicle (Audi) by saying they should be comporable because they are both used for driving. It isn't unfair at all. They are both used for the purpose of listening to music, and the AirPods Pro are vastly more expensive, and are disposable.
Indeed, though they really do have us by the collar due to potential battery life improvements and codec improvements (like lossless music over bluetooth). So there are reasons to look forward to the next gen devices, or say, a couple reasons to be morose about a previous gen purchase at the last minute.Audio products like custom earphones are not like computers, they don't get antiquated so quickly, and they are still useful until technology surpasses it.
Matte black would be awesome! 👍🏻A color other than white is all that I would honestly care about.
Have you tried the third-party memory foam tips? My friend who couldn’t wear her switched tips and they stay in.And they will still fall out my ears 🤣
The value of the pros is the noice cancellation.I tried a short shoot-out between the AirPods and AirPods Pro. I didn’t have time to really experience how the noise cancelling and transparency modes operated but it was reasonable. One of the things that shocked me the most was the difference in sound quality between the standard and pro versions. I found it to be negligible, with the AirPods Pro benefiting from a more robust lower end.
For the price difference, it didn’t seem like an obvious choice to spend the extra money for what are essentially disposable earbuds. Understandable given that the designs are so similar but they would have to improve the features around the main function of audio playback to make the next generation interesting enough for me to buy a pair.
