The pricing is the same or lower than comparable products (true wireless earbuds).
The point most people are missing is that wireless headphones can NEVER sound better than wired ones. Sound is analogue and always will be. Just give me a decent DAC.

no I implied two things separately. You know envy brings out trolls so

1. those that can't afford come here to bash so they don't feel as bad about not getting a pair
2. They look nearly identical to those that already come in the box so you are saying that millions of people have corded cig's in their ears.

don't be so close minded man, and especially don't try to put me down over silly stuff. Or, does that make you feel better?
This is priceless!!! Can I suggest YOU and all the other "folk" on this site actually read the entire thread before getting their panties in a knot over one comment they have taken out of context.
For the last time I'm not doubting these Airpods will be amazing, I'm not doubting they will change the game as far as bt headsets go. I think they look silly but so what, thats my personal opinion, not fact.
..and here's where you need to listen up...

Is there anyone at all thinking that these EarPods are as much of a game changer as the original iPhone exempt for the person I first replied to. No? Didn't think so. The end!!!!

There, all done, I'm not jealous of them, I can quite easily buy some if I desire.. I'm sure they will.be wonderful.. I wonder if you get free classes to a reading comprehension course when u buy some.

Same here. I'm guessing mine will be used mostly on conference calls that can go on for hours, sometimes all-day. I really want to ditch my desk speakerphone. The ability to wear just one AirPod while the other is charging is neat. And the fact that they pop in and out of your ear easily and don't have any little rubber ear tips to fall off and get lost is a plus (ever try looking for one of those under an airplane seat? Forget it.)

I'm expecting they'll be just as comfortable with prolonged use as the wired EarPods. Music is a bonus.
Exactly.

Ever wrap the earphone wire around something that shorten the length so that your head has to get closer to the earpiece? Awkward. Especially when talking to someone that would not understand any disruption.

Happened today for me.

The Airpods will rescue me from this.

Soon.

Ok I have read the entire thread, because I am intrigued about these AirPods. I also read the section with people comparing to the OG iPhone and I didn't comment during that section because that comparison is crazy and no where near the same game changer. Also, I never stated that you stated that they would suck or be incomparable to other BT headphones. So, who is taking what out of context? I am a graduate student and a retired Marine so my while the Marine in me resists reading comprehension the graduate in tends to understand what is going on. I think you either have me confused for someone else or just need someone to vent on. See point one....I know I know you can afford them, but the other part of 1.

So if you are done being aggressive and trying to attack me perhaps we can get back to the topic of the thread "AirPods to be available in apple retail stores starting Monday morning"?

Do you think audio over compressed BT channels is likely to sound better than wired monitor speakers? If so, good luck!

So, you didn't answer the questions the first time. Typical. But thanks for wishing me good luck! My Airpods will be here soon!

My remark concerning iphones in this whole sorry tale is due to one poster who went to bed hours ago stating that this for him was the most exciting apple product release ever!!!!! So I ask if he thinks the original iPhone release was maybe more exciting due to what was available at the same time etc. Considering you can get already get BT headsets, maybe not as feature rich, but not a million miles of. And so on and so on.
Since then, I have been accused of being jealous, poor, and various other things which bore me to death, all because no one could be bothered to read what I was replying To. Jeez......

No. I think most people get it - but I'm guessing it's not a deal-breaker.

To me, improving musical fidelity (beyond a certain point, obviously) is not that important - especially if a product offers other advantages in, say, convenience or usability.

And that fact that most people are fine with listening to reproduced music (as opposed to always going to live concerts) or making phone calls (as opposed to always meeting others face-to-face) demonstrates that convenience is a plus. A huge one in fact: Entire industries thrive on it.

I will keep this short. You told me to actually read before commenting. I did and the part of this convo you are talking about was about 5 pages ago and the guy was making a ridiculous comparison but he was simply excited for his new product so I ignored it. I never saw you were any of the things you say above and if that is what you go when you read into it perhaps you need to.....well do something that doesn't get you so worked up over internet forums.
[doublepost=1481931910][/doublepost]I just really want to know if they have better sweat protection than the wired ones. While I don't need to know, I would like to know if the speakers and amplifier or whatever the components are called are the same as the wired.

I would hope we had better of both with a $150 price tag.

You're joking aren't you? For that Money you can buy some seriously top quality in-ear monitors with custom fitted tips! You'd be mad to pay that for poor quality wireless buds.
I assume you don't own a smartphone, right? For the ~$700 that an iPhone costs, you could buy a pretty decent desktop with way more power, a bigger screen, bigger hard drive, and a mouse! You'd be mad to pay that for an iPhone.

This is my first comment on the Airpods.

I find them interesting. In particular I like the idea of being able to wear only one. My concern though, with all of these untethered BT earpieces is losing them.

So here is my solution, should it work out.

History first: I never liked wearing wired headsets, especially when running. Sometimes though, I would wear one earpiece and put the other in a chest pocket, providing a one ear solution. At first I ran with an iPod shuffle, and other than for the cord, it was ok. Then I started running with the iPhone 4. I switched to the phone for tracking, but never have liked carrying a brick around with me.

Last year I switched to BT, eliminating the annoying wire, but was still stuck with the brick. Then I did something I did not think I would do - I switched from the iPhone 4 to the 7. I do not like carrying that oversized thing at all - running, cycling, walking, anything, but so be it. The thing is, I don't need it for tracking, as I have a fenix 3 - if only it supported music, but I digress.

I could switch to a gps watch with music, but I would give up too many features I enjoy in the Fenix. (I have been looking for a solution to meet my needs for a while.)

Instead though, I have been thinking I prefer things working independently, so instead of considering Airpods, or BeatsX, or any other new BT solution, I am going to try Sony's Walkman headset - if it works well enough, then I have music independent of phone and independent of watch. I can run, cycle, and swim with both, or either of (Sony's thingy is waterproof, even salt water). No bricks to carry, no connections to worry about.

And this is my point - I personally think the future of these devices will lay in their independence or quasi-independence.

With garmin, I don't need to carry a phone brick for gps. With Sony, I won't need a separate MP3 player. For me, Apple brought me into the age of portable mp3 players, it led me to their phones for the same effect with added benefits, but now I increasingly see the phone as an encumbrance, and the future being free of such things.

I am glad Apple is creating new and exciting tech, I just increasingly don't think it is going down the same path I am going down.

Something like this really should have significant water-resistance. The reality here is that these little things are going to fall out of peoples ears from time to time, and they will almost certainly fall out in the toilet, the sink, the bath, the water fountain, etc. Not to mention getting caught in the rain.

Considering the iPhone 7 is now heavily water-resistant, I can only imagine that this will be up on the very next generation.

Basically somebody was excited and out of emotion made a slight exaggeration. The price of this gross miscalculation is now this guy won't let it go and simply move on. "Macrumors and Admob, bringing internet accountability to mad new levels"

I let it go after one comment, it was the 10 follow up posters who wouldn't let go the fact that they thought I was bad mouthing the Airpods which was the rediculous part of this entire discussion..

That's exactly why I want these! I have a home projector that I want to watch when my family is sleeping and Bluetooth is the only way to go with my setup pretty much. Seems perfect, and using it outside the home will be an added bonus. I don't get all the hate for these. Hoping people hate them as much as they say they do at first, so I can actually find some in store.

It's solved then? My only personal experience is trying to get a quality portable solution for wireless speakers for a portable projector last year... everything non-wired (or wifi) was maddening with that fractional delay. It literally induced nausea.

And amplifier. LOL SOME PEOPLE LIKE SOUND QUALITY

at least the gear is every penny worth the 1000. wouldn't expect you (somebody who actually likes the airpods) to understand that at all though
You don't need 1,000 dollar headphones to listen to your Nickelback CD.

It's comical that all of these people are fooled by Apple's release of something that has been around for 7 years.

Wireless! Oh my god no wires!

Get a grip.
Why are you here?

I suspect that allowing the wet Airpods to dry out completely would resolve this.

It works with other tracking devices.

Just got my shipping notice from Apple. AirPods arriving on 12/20. Looking forward to ditching my plantronics voyager that lasts just one hour.

Greg: Tim, I can’t hold any longer. I need another office, somewhere else.
Tim: What’s bothering you ?
Greg: It’s the situation with Eddy, Jimmy, Dré, Trent, Gizmo, Boxy...
They run into my office 25 times a day. Making me mad.
Tim: So what's it all about ?
Greg: They want error-free sound compression. They want merged music accounts. They want shared playlists. They want me to recycle all Apple Music library songs into rapped versions. They expect everything to be done in mere minutes. They hammer on my door, moaning and shouting. There is this constant noise on the gangway, with rappers, floor dancing, punk sound. They urged me to remove the AirPods' sound limit, to pump them up as 200 Watts base-woofers.
Tim: What?! 200 Watt Airpods - that’s crazy… Wouldn’t fit their ears, would it ?
Greg: Well, those rappers do have bigger ears than… eh ahum…us people.
Anyway, I don’t think those tatooed muppets should be on our Board anyway. Let's get rid of these gangsta's.
Tim: You’re not discriminating on race, are you ?
Greg: I wouldn't even dare. But sadly, they won't either. And that turns me crazy every day.
Tim: Fine, but hardware-wise there is a limit on Airpod output, isn’t there ?
How could we ever pump 200 Watts into a modified toothbrush ?
Greg: You’re such a genius, Tim. And so it was me who invented SW sound-reduction. Which is now implemented, systemwide, as of iOS 10.1.1.1.1 Beta 32
Tim: Well, Eddy then should solve the issue with Joni and Phil first.
Greg: As he did. But now they're all complaining hardware mods do not work with SW sound reduction in place. And Joni is never in, so they keep hammering me. It’s just impossible. 200 Watts will never fit in that cheap - ehh, sleek - Chinese tupperware.
Tim: So what did Joni say ?
Greg: I said we'd need a piece of rigid quality, US-made sound equipment, preferably stainless steel. Not too small, not too thin, not too shallow...
Either way, it should be driven by a couple of car-class batteries. Think about the car industry in Detroit and all the loose promises Don Trump made in the Mid-West. Did you get along further with him on US-production, this week ?
Tim: Sorry, that’s confidential. But we didn't. However, you gave me the first simplistic argument that he might understand. So thanks Greg - keep in touch with Eddy & his gang.
Problem solved. We go for lunch now.

Ooooh, we got sooo much in the pipeline...

with my 1000 dollars in audio equipment, im totally jealous of apple's wireless earpods

As if 1000 dollars in audio equipment even worth talking about…

Regardless that's not really a comparison for the AirPods. This thing is about convenience, not lugging a desk around. You can laugh all you want while I enjoy the convenience.
